Get to know the candidates on the ballot for the Board of Education

On April 4, a consolidated election will be held in Henry County which will give residents of Geneseo Community Unit School District #228 an opportunity to vote for three positions on the district’s seven-person Board of Education.

There will be seven candidates–incumbents Kyle Ganson and Diane Olson, along with Scott Henson, Lance Neal, Nolan Paxton, Julie Robinson and Erin Schumacher–on the ballot.

All candidates were invited to a public event at Geneseo High School on March 28 to answer questions relating to the role and participate in a meet and greet immediately afterwards.

Topics included the importance of the Board of Education, improving student achievement, communication with stakeholders, district finances, building on the district's strengths, and promoting equity and unity throughout the district.

The moderated Q&A portion–which can be viewed above–was broadcast live on Geneseo’s TV50.
