GHS student-athletes make their NCAA commitments official

Five Geneseo High School student-athletes were honored and celebrated on Wednesday after each signed their National Letter of Intent.

Luke Johnsen, Olivia Marshall, Hayden Moore, Alysia Perez and AJ Weller are seniors who will go on to compete in their respective sport at the collegiate level.

“These athletes have chosen to take their skills to the next level,” said Joe Nichols, Athletic Director. “On behalf of the administration and student body at Geneseo High School, we are proud of you all and the hard work it took to get here.”

Johnsen, the son of Larry and Sarah Johnsen, will play football at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.

Marshall, the daughter of Sam and Erin Marshall, is heading to Terre Haute, Indiana, where she will attend Indiana State University and participate in track and field.

Moore, the son of Chris and Julie Moore, will play golf for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Illinois.

Perez, daughter of Pete and Shanda Perez, is on her way to the University of Illinois Chicago, where she will play volleyball.

Weller, the son of Jeff and Natalie Weller, will attend Illinois State, where he will play baseball.

“We know you will be taking a piece of Geneseo with you as you go on to play at the next level, and we wish all of you the best of luck,” said Nichols.
