GHS to host 2nd annual job fair and career expo

Geneseo High School will again welcome local businesses and organizations for a job fair and career expo on Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Geneseo Foundation Activity Center.

Travis Mackey, Director of the Career & Technical Education Center, is organizing the event and hopes to build on last year’s success, when approximately 40 local entities were on hand.

“We couldn’t have been happier with last year’s event and we were thrilled to have so many different organizations in attendance,” said Mackey. “The event gives students an idea of what is out there and what they may want to pursue after high school or college.”

The job fair and career expo provides GHS students (9th-12th grades) with an opportunity to learn about jobs in our community and the surrounding area, as well as the education and skills needed to qualify for a variety of positions. Several industries were represented last year, including agriculture, business, education, engineering, finance, healthcare and manufacturing.

“Our students have a wide variety of interests that may lead to a career path,” said Mackey. “We want to not only help students explore those possibilities, but also give local businesses a chance to introduce themselves to future members of the workforce.”

Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate and can email Travis Mackey (tmackey@geneseoschools.org) by Jan. 12 to learn more.
