Geneseo Community Unit School District #228's Diana Fisher has been named as the 2025 Illinois School Nutrition Association (ILSNA) Manager of the Year.
"Diana is a great advocate for school meals," said Michele Hepner, Geneseo's Food Service Director. "She has a big heart, and goes above and beyond to make sure all students have an enjoyable meal time."
Fisher was nominated by her colleagues for her outstanding work in her field.
"Diana is dedicated to providing high-quality meals for students," notes a story about her in the ILSNA's May newsletter. "She manages orders and distribution for multiple sites as well as preparing meals for her own site and contracted districts through her exceptional organizational skills. She creates a safe and enjoyable cafeteria environment by brainstorming fun ideas for special events and offering interactive prizes, such as daily giveaways and prize drawings during National School Lunch Week, to engage all students."
The newsletter continues, "She also fosters a positive atmosphere by planning activities for her staff, including dress-up days and birthday gatherings, and occasionally surprising them with their favorite morning beverages. Leading by example, she demonstrates a strong work ethic while incorporating lighthearted fun into the workplace."
