GHS again lands on U.S. News' Best High Schools list

For the third consecutive year, Geneseo High School has earned high national and metro-area rankings on a 2025-2026 Best High Schools list released by U.S. News on Tuesday.

This year, GHS checks in at #2,262 in the national rankings, #83 among Illinois high schools, and #2 in the Davenport, IA Metro Area High Schools category, trailing only Pleasant Valley High School.

“This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff, the support of our parents/guardians, and the strong partnership we share with the Geneseo community,” said Tom Ryerson, Principal of Geneseo High School. “Together, we create an environment where students can thrive, challenge themselves, and prepare for bright futures. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished as a school family, and I look forward to building on this success in the years ahead.”

The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on more than 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.

“Geneseo High School offers a world-class education to students through a variety of programs. Our students have many varied opportunities to prepare for college or career paths after graduation,” stated Superintendent Dr. Laura Delgado. “We are immensely proud of our students and staff. This designation is a testament to the commitment of our community and our school district to providing a path toward excellence for all students.”
