North State Street closure scheduled for construction project

A section of North State Street in Geneseo, located just south of Geneseo High School, will be closed for an extended period due to scheduled construction.

Beginning Monday, March 9, construction contractors will begin staging equipment along North State Street between Wells Street and Ogden Avenue.

Effective Tuesday, March 10, this portion of North State Street will be closed to through traffic. Access will be limited to local traffic only for the duration of the project, which is anticipated to continue through the start of the 2026–27 school year.

Wells Street, which runs east to west, will remain open. However, intermittent and minor closures may occur as needed to accommodate concrete work, equipment operations, and municipal utility activities.

Please be advised that the on-street parking spaces along North State Street typically used by students and staff will be unavailable throughout the construction period.

At this time, pedestrian access along the sidewalk is expected to remain open, except during intermittent periods when crews are removing and replacing sections of sidewalk.

The city of Geneseo and our school district appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as this project is completed.
