Geneseo High School recognized 16 student-athletes this week as each signed their National Letter of Intent to continue competing at the collegiate level.
During ceremonies held over two days in the high school’s DePauw Theatre, athletes from multiple sports were joined by family members, friends and coaches to sign their letters, marking the official start of their college athletic careers.
“These student-athletes aren’t just moving on, they’re rising to a new challenge, carrying years of dedication, resilience, and passion with them,” said Athletic Director Joe Nichols. “This marks the reward for countless early mornings, late nights, and unwavering commitment. On behalf of our entire school community, we couldn’t be more proud. As you step onto bigger stages, remember, you’ll always carry a piece of home, and we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way.”
“These moments stand as powerful reflections of years of hard work, discipline, and commitment both in the classroom and in competition,” said Principal Tom Ryerson. “These student-athletes have earned every opportunity in front of them through their perseverance and drive. This isn’t just a milestone for them, but a celebration shared with the families, friends, and coaches who have supported them along the way.”

Eliana Barickman, the daughter of John and Kellie Barickman, will play volleyball at St. Ambrose University.
Lincoln Barnett, the son of Mike and Alicia Barnett, will play football at the University of Dubuque.
Chris Berry, the son of Chris and Carrie Berry, will play baseball at Carl Sandburg College.
Liberty Brumbaugh, the daughter of Adam and Heidi Brumbaugh, will compete in cross country and track at Olivet Nazarene University.
Graysen Carlson, the son of Brandon and Adrianne Carlson, will compete in cross country and track at Evangel University.
Jordan Cechowicz, the daughter of Jeffrey Cechowicz, will swim at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Ava DeSplinter, the daughter of Adam and Jamie DeSplinter, will play soccer at St. Ambrose University.
Paige Eastburn, the daughter of Eric and Stacia Eastburn, will participate in cheer at Evangel University.
Carter Holke, the son of Ben and Chelsie Holke, will play football at St. Ambrose University.
Grady Hull, the son of Matt and Tricia Hull, will wrestle at North Central College.
Kameryn Keegan, the daughter of Kris and Jennifer Keegan, will compete in track at Loras College.
Jackson McAvoy, the son of Scott and Julia McAvoy, will play football at Coe College.
Michael Peterson, the son of Maurey and Mary Peterson, will play hockey at Bradley University.
Hannah Stone, the daughter of Jason and Anne Stone, will compete in cross country at Cornell College.
Kye Weinzierl, the son of Brad and Jami Weinzierl, will play football at Western Illinois University.
Kale Whitaker, the son of Jennifer Spindler, will play baseball at Black Hawk College.
