Playoff football returns to Geneseo as Green Machine hosts North Chicago

Geneseo High School’s Green Machine will open the IHSA football playoffs at home on Saturday, October 24 with a 3 p.m. kickoff against North Chicago.

Geneseo, seeded 9th in Class 4A, finished the 2026 regular season with a record of 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the Western Big 6. It enters the postseason following a 46-22 victory over the Quincy Blue Devils at Bob Reade Field on Friday.

The Green Machine will face the 24th-seeded North Chicago Warhawks (2-6) in the opening round for the right to face Montini Catholic High School in Lombard in the first round.

Gates on Saturday will open at 2 p.m. All tickets will cost $8 per spectator, including students, adults and senior citizens, in accordance with IHSA postseason regulations.

Tickets will be sold at the gate on a cash-only basis. No passes will be accepted, including student, staff, conference or senior citizen passes. Babies carried by their parents will be admitted free.

Reserved parking and reserved seating for season ticket holders will remain available as usual. However, reserved parking and seating do not include admission, and all spectators must purchase a playoff ticket at the gate.

Unreserved parking will be available in the Geneseo High School and Geneseo Middle School lots. Handicap parking will be available inside the south gate, with payment required before entering.

Fans unable to attend can watch the game online through TV 50 (WB6network.com) and the NFHS Network.
