No ELA Lab Today:

No ELA lab today due to Senior Group Picture. 

 

Art Club:

Do you enjoy making art?  You should consider joining the GHS Art Club! We meet every Thursday from 3-4 in room 27, starting this Thursday the 31st. There are many fun activities we do during the school year and we offer silver cord opportunities! We hope to see you there! 

 

Parking:

Junior and Senior students may register for student parking today at the end of your school day from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.


Attention Freshman:

Check your school email for a Class Officer Ballot. Ballots are open until Thursday, August 31st at 3:00 p.m. Be sure to cast your vote for your Class President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.


School Pictures Reminder:

Senior individual pictures will be August 30 & 31. Pictures will be during your ELA class.  The Senior Group Picture will be August 30th during WIN.

On Wednesday, August 30th during WIN the senior students will be heading out to the football field (gym if raining) for the senior group picture. Seniors should report to WIN for attendance and then come to the location. The picture will be over before WIN is done, so they will return to their WIN classroom for further attendance/learning center purposes. 

 Procedures/rules of the Senior Group Picture: 

1. All students will stand on the bleachers facing the camera. 

2. All students will place their hands behind their backs. 

3. All students will follow the directions of the photographer/yearbook advisors/administrators during the process. 

4. ANY student not following the rules will receive discipline and will incur costs of editing the picture to remove their misbehavior. 

 

Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors will have individual pictures on

September 7th & 8th. Pictures will be during your ELA class.

 

Homecoming Reminder:

Students, remember to attend the Homecoming dance you must have all your past due discipline served.  You may serve detentions from 7:25 a.m. to 7:55 a.m. in room 13 with Ms. Anderson or from 3:05 p.m. to 3:35 p.m. in room 14 with Ms. Schnowske.

 

September Study Hall Release for Juniors and Seniors:

Study Hall release will start on Friday, September 1st.  Students will receive ineligibility notices on Wednesday, August 30th and Thursday, August 31st.  In order to be eligible for Junior and Senior Study Hall release you must clear the following obligations: 

- Grades of D+ or higher in all classes

- No 2nd Semester 2023 failed classes

- No unpaid library fines

- No unserved discipline

- Students who have 6th period Study Hall and a 7th period class are not eligible for Study Hall release. 


Girls Swim Team:

Girls Swim Team is back and looking for swimmers! It's a great cross-training exercise plus loads of fun. Please text Coach Gina at 530-588-8147 if you are interested.

 

Guest Forms for Homecoming:

Guests Verification Forms for the Homecoming Dance are available outside the Assistant Principals' office or in the Main Office.  These will be due to the Assistant Principals' office no later than Tuesday, September 12th.

 

Silver Cord Opportunity:

Looking for a way to earn your Silver Cord hours, or put a line on your resume? The Geneseo Chamber of Commerce is searching for a dedicated volunteer, willing to learn about and support the business and event scene in Geneseo. The position requires between 5 to 10 hours a week, possibly more if a community event is happening. Skills we’ll be developing include event planning, office upkeep, customer service, filing, and more.  If you’re interested in working to help grow the future of Geneseo with the Geneseo Chamber, please give us a call at 309-944-2686 or email us at geneseo@geneseo.org.


Silver Cord Opportunity:

The Harold Neumann Project (a part of the Geneseo Historical Society) is looking for volunteers at Planes, Trains, and Automobiles on Saturday Sept 9th from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Geneseo HISTORICAL Museum.  They need many high school volunteers to help with kid's activities, passing out water, and directing people to the exhibit. Sign up for as many 2 hour time slots as you like!  This is a great way to get a few hours towards your silver cord goal.  Lunch will be provided.  There is a flyer posted on the Info Board outside of the Front Office.  Follow the QR code on the flyer to the sign up link.  You can also find us on Facebook and Instagram.
