Geneseo Community Unit School District #228 hosted an open house at Geneseo High School’s Career and Technical Education Center on Wednesday evening, October 4.
The 12,000-square-foot standalone facility allows GHS to expand its vocational classes and offer students apprenticeships in computer numerical control (CNC) programs and residential carpentry.
The $4.4M project was funded by local foundations and businesses, the Board of Education (via a 1% sales tax revenue), and bonds.
“In 2020, our Board of Education prioritized the renewal and expansion of vocational opportunities for our students,” stated Superintendent Dr. Adam Brumbaugh. “Thanks to the incredible support from board members, administrators, teachers, maintenance workers, local businesses and foundations, we now have a state-of-the-art facility that will set up generations of students for success in the workplace.”
In conjunction with the event, members of Geneseo’s Board of Education were on hand for a meet and greet in the new facility’s classroom.
