Environmental Club:

The GHS Environmental Club will begin meeting this week on Tuesday mornings before school in Room 30. Please join us to make plans and to do things.  Remember, you have two homes in this life- your body and your Earth...Take care of them! 

 

Art Club:

Unleash your inner artist, come get creative and express yourself! Join GHS Art Club.  We meet on Wednesdays after school in Mrs. Degarmo's room (room 27).  

Robotics Team:

Do you have mechanical design or computer coding skills?  Are you interested in a STEM related career?  Then join us on Thursday, August 28 at 3:10 PM for a brief informational meeting about the GHS Robotics Team in room 35.

 

Join Student Council:

Student Council will hold its first meeting this Thursday, August 28 at 8:30 a.m. in the Theatre.  Come and check us out.  Join Student Council and make a difference in our school.  To become a member, simply fill out a membership petition and secure 25 signatures. Petitions may be picked up from Mrs. Laingen in Room 19 or Mrs. Brewer in Room 26. Student Council meets every Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in the Theatre. Don’t miss out on the many Student Leadership Opportunities.

 

Class Officer Petitions Available:

Attention Freshman: Would you like to be your Class President, Vice-President, Secretary, or Treasurer for the 2025-26 school year? Class Officer petitions are now available.  Pick one up from Mrs. Laingen in Room 19 or Mrs. Brewer in Room 26. All petitions need 25 signatures, a signed contract, and must be returned by Tuesday, September 2.  Candidates will be placed on a ballot for a class election.  Class officers are members of the Student Council and are expected to fulfill all membership duties.

 

US Marine Corps Visit:

On Wednesday, August 27th, the US Marines Corps will be visiting Geneseo High School during WIN. If you are interested in meeting with the US Marine Corps, please visit the Counseling Office for more details and to sign up. You must sign up before to obtain a pass, and confirm the visit will be taking place. 

 

Fall Play:

This year’s fall play is “Charlotte’s Web.”  It has a large cast, and will need a large number of students to work backstage.  Students in all four grades are eligible to participate.  There will be a meeting today in the DePauw Theatre from 3:15 to 4:15 PM.  All students who would like to audition or work backstage, should plan to attend this meeting.

 

JV Scholastic Bowl:

Freshmen and Sophomores, WE NEED YOU on the JV Scholastic Bowl Team! This is not “bowling” with pins and alleys, but is an IHSA extracurricular activity in which teams use buzzers and timers in “quiz” competitions against other schools. Short informational meetings will be held in Mrs. Young’s room, Room 45, after school on Tuesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 28 at 3:10. Plan to attend or speak with Mrs. Young as soon as possible. Competition season is from October to March.

 

Trap Team Signup and Information Meeting:

The GHS Trap Team will host an informational meeting for students and their parents on Tuesday, August 26 at 5:00 PM.  Anyone who is interested in joining the Trap Team for this school year should attend.  The meeting will be held at Bi-State Sportsmen’s Association in Colona.  If you have any questions, you can reach out to Coach Ramirez at rramirez@geneseoschools.org.

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Park District:

There is a list of upcoming volunteer opportunities at the Park District posted on the Announcements bulletin board in the main hallway.  Hours, position details and contact information is included.
