Class Meetings during WIN Today:

All students are expected to attend their class meeting during WIN todayStudents are to report to WIN first for attendance and will then go with their teacher to the class meeting.  The meetings will take place in the following locations:

Freshmen – Theatre
Sophomores – Concert Hall
Juniors – Cafeteria
Seniors – Main Gym

 

Senior Class Graduation Meeting on Tuesday:

On Tuesday there will be a Senior class meeting during WIN in the Concert Hall.  A representative from Herff Jones will be here to go over graduation information including ordering caps, gowns, and announcements.  Seniors are to report to WIN first for attendance.  Senior WIN teachers are to take their students to the Concert Hall immediately after attendance is taken. 

Senior Open Campus Lunch:

The next Open Campus Lunch opportunity will be this Friday, October 3!

To qualify, you need to have a grade of C- or higher in all classes, no unpaid library fines, and no outstanding discipline. Eligibility will be determined on Wednesday, October 1. Eligibility notices will be distributed on the morning of Open Campus Lunch on Friday, October 3. Students who qualify will have additional time for lunch. If you receive a notice, please be sure to read it for your exact departure and return times.

 

Foreign Language Club:

Our next meeting is on Wednesday, October 1st at 3:00 pm in room 3. We will be learning some salsa dance moves. Come learn all about salsa dancing before the Homecoming Dance is here! Hope to see you there!

 

College 101 Group:

Are you planning on attending college next year, but still have questions?  Check out the College 101 group!  This group is for seniors who want more information about all things college.   Deciding where to apply, picking the right school, how to pay and more!  This group will meet in Conference Room D every Wednesday, beginning Wednesday, October 1, during WIN for about 8 weeks.  If you are interested, please stop by the counseling office to sign up and get a pass! 

 

Starbooks Café:

September 30 is the last Tuesday of the month, so the GHS Library will be hosting Starbooks Cafe from 7:35-7:55 a.m. You stay and share your book recommendations, and the library will share cocoa, cappuccino, and conversation with you.  All readers are invited to participate.

 

Junior & Senior October Study Hall Release:

Junior & Senior Study Hall Release for the month of October will begin on Wednesday, October 1st. Students who are required to stay will begin receiving notices today and Tuesday. If you do not receive a notice, you do not have to report to Study Hall. Please check the announcement board outside the front office for more info. 

 

University of Dubuque Visit:

On Tuesday, September 30, the University of Dubuque will be visiting Geneseo High School during 6th period. If you are interested in meeting with the University of Dubuque, please visit the Counseling Office for more details and to sign up. You must sign up before to obtain a pass, and confirm the visit will be taking place. 

 

Attention QC Storm Hockey Fans:

The QC Storm President, Brian Rothenberger, and Storm mascot, Radar, will be at GHS before school on Friday, October 3rd.  Radar is looking to take selfies with students at the main entrance.  He will also be giving away 4 tickets to an upcoming QC Storm game.  To enter to win the tickets, fill out an entry form in the GHS Front Office.  The drawing will take place Tuesday, September 30th at 8:00 a.m.  In order to receive the tickets, you must be present on October 3rd at 7:00 a.m. to meet Brian and Radar.

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Food Pantry:

Looking for a place to complete Silver Cord hours? The Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry is in need of volunteers on Monday evenings, 4:00-7:00 p.m. Please contact Nicole at the Food Pantry, 309-944-3165 or email: geneseopantry1@gmail.com

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Henry County Humane Society:

The Henry County Humane Society is looking for volunteers! Earn Silver Cord hours while helping animals in need. Applications are available in the Front Office.

There is a list of upcoming volunteer opportunities at the Park District posted on the Announcements bulletin board in the main hallway.  Hours, position details and contact information is included.
