November Junior & Senior Study Hall Release:
November Study Hall release for Juniors & Seniors will begin on Monday, November 3rd. Students who are required to stay will begin receiving notices today & Friday. If you do not receive a notice, you do not have to report to Study Hall. Please check the announcement board outside the front office for more info.
Trades Interest Group:
If you are interested in careers in the trades, stop by the Trades Interest Group during WIN, this Friday in the Library Lobby. Each Friday this group will go over trades basics and have speakers from local companies speak about their positions and programs. If you come to 3 of the next 4 meetings, you will qualify for a field trip to Midwest Technical Institute. See Mrs. Lavine in the counseling office if you would like to sign up. All grades are welcome.
Veterans Day Invitations:
Attention Students – if you would like to invite a Veteran to the GHS Veterans Day Assembly on November 11, please stop by the Front Office to pick up an invitation with the information.
Hat Days Next Week:
Veterans Day is just around the corner. GHS is remembering Veterans Day in TWO WAYS this year – by honoring and taking action!
1. Honoring: We’re holding an all-school assembly with local veterans as guests on Tuesday, November 11. We want all students to be able to participate because nearly everyone, students and staff alike, is connected to a veteran in some way.
2. Taking Action: We’re hosting “Hat Days” next week! Students and teachers are encouraged to wear hats Monday through Friday, paying a dollar (cash only) each day to do so! Money will be collected each day in your first hour. All proceeds from this event will be donated to The Geneseo Aisle of Flags.
Fall Play:
This year’s fall play is “Charlotte’s Web.” Performance dates include this Friday (7:00 PM), Saturday (7:00 PM), and Sunday (3:00 PM). All performances are in the DePauw Theatre. Tickets are $10.00 and are available at the door only.
Football Playoff Admission:
Gates at Bob Reade Field will open at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Per IHSA regulations, all tickets are $8.00 for every spectator – students, adults, and seniors. Tickets will be sold at each gate for cash only. No passes of any kind – student, staff, conference, senior citizen, etc. – will be accepted. Student Athletic Passes cannot be used for playoff games.
Football Game Guidelines:
We are excited to see your Halloween spirit at the football game on Friday night! Costumes are ok, but there are some guidelines:
· No face masks or full-face coverings – we need to be able to identify all students.
· No fake weapons of any kind – even if they’re part of a costume.
· No backpacks or large bags will be allowed in the stadium.
· Please keep costumes school-appropriate and respectful – nothing offensive.
If you’re not sure whether your costume is okay, please check with GHS Administration or Officer Berthoud ahead of time. Let’s keep it fun, safe, and full of school spirit as we cheer on our Green Machine!
Also, this is a reminder that there is a Pep Rally tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Bob Reade Field.
Cross Country Sectional:
Geneseo High School is hosting one of the IHSA Cross Country Sectional Championships on Saturday at Richmond Hill. The girls cross country team runs at 11:00 and the boys team runs at 12:00. There will be over 30 schools from around the state running on Saturday. Admission is free. Please come out and support the teams as they try to advance to State. Good luck runners!
