Food Drive:

Who wants some Donuts?  Get your 1st hour class going and collect the most canned goods or non-perishable food items this week thru Friday, November 14, and your 1st hour class will win DONUTS!!  The competition is intense, so start collecting now.  Good Luck and may the BEST 1st hour win!!!

 

Foreign Language Club:

On Wednesday, one of our very own members will be giving a presentation on Greece. You won't want to miss it! Hope to see you there!

 

Change for a Change:

Attention all students: Did you know that just $25 can provide clean water for life to a person living in Central America? This week, the Spanish 3 students are collecting spare change to donate to Healing Waters International. They hope to collect change to make a change. Please donate your spare change this week and help save lives! Spanish 3 students will be carrying empty water jugs to collect your change. If you cannot find a Spanish 3 student, feel free to stop by room 3 to drop off your change. Thank you!

AP Exam Opt-Out/Drop:

If you are in an AP course and plan to drop at semester or opt-out of the AP exam, you will need to let Mrs. Lavine or your AP teacher know by this Friday, November 14th to avoid getting a $40 testing fee. If you have any questions, please ask your AP teacher or Mrs. Lavine in the counseling office.

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Cops and Firefighters for Christmas:

Do you like wrapping presents and want to help the Geneseo Police Department spread holiday cheer? Officer Amber is looking for 4-5 students to assist with this year's "Cops and Firefighters for Christmas." Please see Officer Amber if interested.

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Operation Christmas Child:

GHS students are invited to earn silver cord hours at an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Packing Party. Volunteers will be packing items into shoeboxes that will be sent around the world to share hope with children. It will be held at Kingswood Church (formerly First Methodist) on Friday, November 14, from 4-8pm, and Saturday, November 15, from 9am-2pm. Drop by anytime. It will be held in the south campus building, which is located across the parking lot from the church. Please bring your silver cord timesheet.

 

Attention Juniors & Seniors:

Juniors or seniors who may be enlisting in the military are invited to meet in the library during WIN time on Tuesdays in December. Mrs. Brucher will be reviewing free materials we have to help you prepare for the ASVAB military service entrance exam. Sign up in the library or the counseling office to be sure you receive a pass to leave your WIN and attend the December meetings.

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Food Pantry:

Looking for a place to complete Silver Cord hours? The Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry is in need of volunteers on Monday evenings, 4:00-7:00 p.m. Please contact Nicole at the Food Pantry, 309-944-3165 or email: geneseopantry1@gmail.com

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Henry County Humane Society:

The Henry County Humane Society is looking for volunteers! Earn Silver Cord hours while helping animals in need. Applications are available on the Henry County Humane Society website.

There is a list of upcoming volunteer opportunities at the Park District posted on the Announcements bulletin board in the main hallway.  Hours, position details and contact information is included.
