GHS Announcements 12-1-25

Monday, December 1

Lunch Detention Cancelled Today:

There will be no lunch detention today.

Attention Juniors and Seniors:

If you received a notice that you have to stay in Study Hall for December, that begins today.  If you leave and are supposed to stay, you will receive a truancy and discipline.

Change for a Change:

Attention all students: Thank you so much for your help with the Spanish 3 fundraiser "Change for a Change"! We raised 584 dollars and 4 cents! That will provide clean water for life to 23 different families in need. Thank you for your generosity! Well done, GHS!

Seniors – Open Campus Lunch:

The next Senior Open Campus Lunch opportunity will be this Friday, December 5th!

To qualify, you need to have a grade of C- or higher in all classes, no unpaid library fines, and no outstanding discipline. Eligibility will be determined on Wednesday, December 3rd. Eligibility notices will be distributed the morning of Open Campus Lunch on Friday, December 5th. Students who qualify will have additional time for lunch. If you receive a notice, please be sure to read it for your exact departure and return times.

Dance Marathon – Culver’s Night:

Hey GHS! Mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 9th, because it’s time for Dance Marathon Share Night at Culver’s! From 5 to 8 p.m., come enjoy your favorite burgers, fries, and custard while supporting a great cause. A portion of the night’s proceeds will go directly to GHS Dance Marathon, which raises money for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City. Every dollar helps support kids and families receiving treatment there — so by simply eating dinner, you’re helping make a real difference. Bring your friends, bring your family, and help us fill the restaurant with GHS spirit! Again, that’s Tuesday, December 9th at Culver’s — we’ll see you there for a fun night of food, friends, and fundraising for the kids!

Deck the Halls Contest:

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and it's time to “Deck the Halls” with a Door Decorating Contest. Each WIN class will decorate their classroom door. Commons and Cafeteria WIN can decorate a Commons or Cafeteria wall or door.  The decorating may begin December 1 thru December 10. Judging will be Monday, December 15. Be creative, be festive, use lights and/or music, and have fun.

Senior Hall of Fame:

The Senior Hall of Fame lists are posted outside of Mrs. Anton (17) and Mrs. Brewer's (26) rooms. Please note pictures will be taken starting this week. We want to have all pictures completed before Winter Break.
