Graduation Speeches:
Attention Seniors: Are you interested in giving a speech at graduation? All graduating seniors are eligible to submit a speech for consideration. Speeches will be chosen by a committee and those students will read their speeches at the graduation ceremony. If your speech makes it to the final round, you will be notified by April 1st. Those students that make it to the final round will present their speeches to the committee during WIN on April 7.
Speeches must meet the following criteria:
200-400 words
typed format with your name on it
The speech does not have to be a particular subject matter but needs to be positive and represent the class of 2026
Speeches are due in the Front Office by Monday, March 30 at 3:00 p.m.
Seniors Enlisting in the Military:
If you are a Senior who is enlisting in the military after graduation, please stop down to the Front Office and let Mrs. Harrington know. Seniors who are entering the military will earn a red, white, and blue cord to wear at graduation.
Journalism Club:
Journalism Club will meet on Thursday from 3-3:30 in Mrs. Ritchie's room.
Special Olympics Donation:
Bring your coins or cash to lunch hour this week and donate to Special Olympics Illinois. Students and staff can earn incentives including using your phone during win, get out of a detention, karaoke during lunch, and admin and some staff wear wigs or costumes for a day.
Senior Open Campus Lunch:
The next Open Campus Lunch opportunity will be this Friday, March 13th!
To qualify, you need to have a grade of C- or higher in all classes, no unpaid library fines, and no outstanding discipline. Eligibility will be determined on Wednesday, March 11th. Eligibility notices will be distributed on the morning of Open Campus Lunch on Friday, March 13th. Students who qualify will have additional time for lunch. If you receive a notice, please be sure to read it for your exact departure and return times.
St. Ambrose Visit:
On Thursday, March 12th, St. Ambrose University will be visiting Geneseo High School during 7th period. If you are interested in meeting with St. Ambrose University, please visit the Counseling Office for more details and to sign up. You must sign up before to obtain a pass, and confirm the visit will be taking place.
STRIVE:
There is a STRIVE meeting for seniors who have been invited. This will be today during WIN in the Front Office.
Loras College Visit:
Loras College will be visiting Geneseo High School today during WIN. Please remember to sign up before the visit in the Counseling Office.
Foreign Language Club:
Save the date! One of our very own members will be presenting on ASL on Wednesday, March 11th! Hope to see you there! You won’t want to miss it!
Prom Guest Forms:
Attention Juniors and Seniors - Prom is scheduled for May 9th. If you would like to bring a guest who is not a current GHS student, please complete the Prom Guest Form and submit it for approval. The deadline to turn in the form is Monday, April 13th. Please read the form carefully to be certain you are aware of the guest requirements. All additional paperwork and verifications must be submitted with the form. The forms, printed on pink paper, are available outside of the Assistant Principals' office.
Silver Cord Opportunity – Park District:
Volunteer opportunities with the Geneseo Park District are listed on the Announcements Board in the hall outside the Front Office.
Silver Cord Opportunity – Food Pantry:
Looking for a place to complete Silver Cord hours? The Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry is in need of volunteers on Monday evenings, 4:00-7:00 p.m. Please contact Nicole at the Food Pantry, 309-944-3165 or email: geneseopantry1@gmail.com
Silver Cord Opportunity – Henry County Humane Society:
The Henry County Humane Society is looking for volunteers! Earn Silver Cord hours while helping animals in need. Applications are available on the Henry County Humane Society website.
