Graduation Speeches:
Attention Seniors: Are you interested in giving a speech at graduation? All graduating seniors are eligible to submit a speech for consideration. Speeches will be chosen by a committee and those students will read their speeches at the graduation ceremony. If your speech makes it to the final round, you will be notified by April 1st. Those students that make it to the final round will present their speeches to the committee during WIN on April 7.
Speeches must meet the following criteria:
· 200-400 words
· typed format with your name on it
· The speech does not have to be a particular subject matter but needs to be positive and represent the class of 2026
Speeches are due in the Front Office by Monday, March 30 at 3:00 p.m.
Seniors Enlisting in the Military:
If you are a Senior who is enlisting in the military after graduation, please stop down to the Front Office and let Mrs. Harrington know. Seniors who are entering the military will earn a red, white, and blue cord to wear at graduation.
Algebra 1 Math Lab:
The Algebra 1 Math Lab during WIN today has been cancelled.
Silver Cord Opportunity – Geneseo Country Club:
There is a volunteer opportunity with the Geneseo Country Club doing general course clean/spruce up during spring break. It is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, March 19 weather permitting. Contact the Geneseo Country Club - Carmen at (309) 944-3666 or Dan at (309) 749-8432.
Prom Guest Forms:
Attention Juniors and Seniors - Prom is scheduled for May 9th. If you would like to bring a guest who is not a current GHS student, please complete the Prom Guest Form and submit it for approval. The deadline to turn in the form is Monday, April 13th. Please read the form carefully to be certain you are aware of the guest requirements. All additional paperwork and verifications must be submitted with the form. The forms, printed on pink paper, are available outside of the Assistant Principals' office.
Link Crew:
Are you interested in joining Link Crew? Link Crew is a program that helps students transition to high school. If you are a Sophomore or Junior you are eligible to apply for Link Crew. Reminder, current members of Link Crew MUST reapply for next year. We are looking for dependable students who are positive role models at GHS. It is easy to apply, simply scan one of the QR codes that is posted on flyers around the school. Applications must be completed by Thursday, April 2nd at Midnight! If you would like additional information about Link Crew there is an optional meeting on Tuesday, March 24th at 7:45 a.m. in the Theatre. We hope to see you there!
Special Olympics:
A huge thanks to students and staff that donated to Special Olympics. WE DID IT! We raised $570.19. This means a lot to our athletes that participate. Today you will see some of our admin and staff are wearing costumes, hear some songs at lunch, and after break you might be able to catch one of them doing a tik-tok challenge. We will get the rest of the prizes when we come back from break. Teachers also be on the lookout for when you will get the incentives as well. If you would still like to make a donation you can until 12:30 today!
Attention Physical Education & Wellness Students:
There is no WIN Physical Education and Wellness make up today. Report to your regular WIN class today.
Lady Leafs Track:
On Tuesday when the Lady Leafs Track team competed at St Ambrose, Brooklyn Smith won both the 1600 and 3200m runs in which she set a new school record in the 3200m run at 10 minutes and 53 seconds. The previous record was 10:55 last set in 1985! Congratulations to Brooklyn!
Yearbook Orders:
The end of this month is the last chance to order a yearbook for the 2025-2026 school year. Check the lists and ordering information outside of Mrs. Anton (17) and Mrs. Brewer (26) rooms.
Silver Cord Opportunity – Park District:
Volunteer opportunities with the Geneseo Park District are listed on the Announcements Board in the hall outside the Front Office.
Silver Cord Opportunity – Food Pantry:
