GHS Announcements 5-13-26

Wednesday, May 13

Lost and Found:

The Lost and Found is officially overflowing and it's time for a clean-up! If you have misplaced any personal belongings, please take a moment to check the Lost and Found located in the Front Office today.  Starting tomorrow, May 14th, we will be implementing a "Lost and Free" table, where unclaimed items will be placed for anyone to pick up.

Library Books:

All library books are due Friday, May 15.  If you have lost a book, please check with the librarians for the amount of your replacement fee.

Thursday – Anything But A Backpack Day:

Tomorrow will be our annual tradition of - Anything But Backpack Day!  “Anything But a Backpack Day” is a fun event where students bring their school supplies in creative items instead of a backpack — like laundry baskets, suitcases, coolers, or toolboxes! Get creative!

Guidelines:
• Items must be safe, manageable, and not block hallways
• Choose items that are stable and won’t spill
• No offensive or inappropriate items

If you are unsure about your item, please check with a teacher or GHS administrator.

Books & Board Games:

Hey GHS! Do you have any gently used books or board games? Student Council is collecting all week to donate to the Quad Cities Boys and Girls club! Let’s see which class can collect the most. Bring them to the shelf by the front office before school in the morning!

Gray Matters Applications:

Would you like to help make an impact on mental health in our school? The Gray Matters Collective is looking for kind and caring student coordinators to join our team!

If you want to help end the stigma, support your peers, and lead meaningful conversations about mental wellness, please stop by Mrs. Oaks' class, room 6, to pick up an application.  Please return to Mrs. Oaks by May 15th.

Music Festival Queen Pageant:

Information forms for the annual Geneseo Music Festival Queen Pageant are available in the Front Office.  The Geneseo Rotary-sponsored pageant is Friday, June 19 in City Park, and the pageant is open to Geneseo High School graduating seniors.  Scholarships from the Rotary Club will be awarded to the Queen and four runners-up.  Forms will be accepted in the GHS Front Office through Friday, May 22.

Workshop Opportunity:

Are you looking to enhance your mental and physical performance in your sport and activities? Join us for a night of fellowship, community, and growth on May 18th from 6 to 8 pm in the GFAC. Delivered is hosting a workshop open to athletes, students, coaches, and teachers centered on mental health, performance, identity, and purpose. You'll learn practical tools to build confidence, manage pressure, and perform your best when it matters most--whether in competition, practice, off-season, or in-season. Open to all athletes, students, coaches, and teachers--come grow, connect, boost your performance, and take a step toward becoming your best. For more information, see the flyers posted around the school or contact students, Jaxson Seals, Claire Swanson, or Lilly Brown for more information.
