Geneseo's FFA Chapter offers potted plant workshop in advance of plant sale

Geneseo’s FFA Chapter will be hosting a potted plant workshop on Wednesday, April 24 from 5 to 6 p.m. It comes with early access to its annual plant sale, which begins on April 27 and runs through May 6, while supplies last (see dates and times below).

The workshop is open to adults and students with only 12 spots available. It will take place at the Geneseo High School greenhouse and teach attendees how to select plants for the best outdoor flower pot. All materials will be provided.

Spots are $35 each and can be reserved by emailing Jacqueline Wetzell, Geneseo High School’s agriculture teacher and FFA advisor, at jwetzell@geneseoschools.org.

“My Greenhouse Management class has done an outstanding job this semester getting the greenhouse ready for this big event,” said Mrs. Wetzell. “We hope to see you there!”

Members of the community interested in purchasing a plant can come to the GHS greenhouse–enter the school through the south gate near Bob Reade Field–on the below dates with cash or checks accepted.

In other FFA news, GHS is in the midst of a complete remodel of its ag classroom and auto shop, which with the new Career and Technical Education Center, will become a new ag lab.

The plaques in the ag classroom were taken down and Mrs. Wetzell is hoping to give them to former FFA members and parents. To claim a plaque, either complete this Google form or email jwetzell@geneseoschools.org the years and names of the FFA member(s), and when you would like to pick up the plaque.
