Please claim your items from the Lost and Found cart in the cafeteria by FRIDAY, March 10th.  Anything left on the cart after school Friday will go to Geneseo Goodwill.

If you are interested in FFA or agriculture, you should consider coming to the Agriculture Club meeting the morning of this Wednesday, March 8th in room 709. High school FFA members and the faculty advisor will be at the meeting to answer any questions you may have about FFA. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Students are invited to take part in a Big Free Library book swap on Tuesday, March 7. On the Same Page will be set up in the lobby by the high school concert hall from 6-8:30 p.m. Bring a new or used book and take home a new book. You can also stick around for the middle school music concert that starts at 7 p.m. if you would like.

Attention 8th graders: Western Illinois University and Augustana College will be here this week to share information about their schools and answer any questions that students have.  This is a great opportunity to learn about local colleges and to begin thinking about your future plans. Western will be here during ASAP today and Augustana will be here Thursday during ASAP.  If you are interested in hearing more about these schools, please come to the counseling office to sign up to attend. 

Congratulations to the following 8th grade House 1 S.T.R.I.P.E.S award winners for the month of March:Lilyann Garza, Isabella Brown, Alex Alleman.  These students display qualities of service, tenacity, respect, involvement, perseverance, enthusiasm, and spirit.  Your teachers appreciate your efforts to continuously carry out GMS's mission by displaying these qualities. Attention Contig Club: March Madness is here! Although the NCAA brackets are not out yet, our Contig Club bracket is and there's been plenty of madness already. We had a great turnout and some intense action. One of our opening round matches went into overtime. This Wednesday, at 7:40, we will meet again in Mrs. Wagner's room, #604. Winners Wednesday will advance to the Final 4. Remember, if you want to come watch or come play just for fun you are more than welcome. See you Wednesday!

Attention all students participating in track and field.  Today is our first practice.  We will meet in the large gym after school.  Please leave your school book bag and coat in your hallway locker.  You can use the PE locker rooms to change.  Remember, if you currently have a PE exclusion, you are also excluded from participating in track practice.  See a coach if you have any questions before practice today.  The coaches are Mrs. Gillespie, Mr. Monier, Mrs. Wagner, Mrs. Puls and Mr. Mathew.

Attention all 8th graders: Awaken your day with GROOVY BANDHA, a student-led yoga club designed to enhance physical and mental wellness. GROOVY BANDHA meets in room 810 on Wednesday mornings @ 7:40 am. Check out the posters in the 8th grade hallway for more info. If you want to join, see Mrs. Plant in advance. Only 8th graders with GROOVY BANDHA passes will be allowed to attend. 

On Saturday the GMS wrestling team traveled to Dekalb to compete in the IESA Sectional meet. The team fought hard all day and was able to send 6 out of 13 wrestlers to the state meet. Trenton Kennedy took 1st, Colten Mooney 1st, Emmett Hill 3rd, Harrison Hill 3rd, Finn Schaad 3rd, and Josh Stahl 3rd. Great job and good luck this weekend. 

The library WILL BE CLOSED today during ASAP due to the Skype interview with Allison Varnes. Students who are attending the Skype presentation will report directly to the LGR today. Do not bring anything with you..

The cafeteria is now a construction zone for breakfast.  Come to breakfast and construct a healthy start to your day!  You will be able to dig into some great breakfast options and there will be different construction engineers serving up your food.  Why not stop in tomorrow morning and see what’s for breakfast!

Today is the last chance for donations to the American Heart Challenge. If you have any donations, please turn them into Mr. Reed in the gym after the announcements.

7th and 8th grade choir members. We are going to the concert hall today. Please get to the choir room quickly and bring a coat. There are no choir assessments this week.
