6 of our middle school swimmers represented the Geneseo Gators and East Moline Swim Club at the Davenport Metro Fall Frolic swim meet this past weekend. Kanon Boster, Titus Schweitzer, Tristan Melton, Brooke Herington and Lucy Walck from the Gators with Ida Rowold from EMSC. Each swimmer swam up to 7 different events over the 2 day meet. Here are some highlights: Kanon and Titus both broke the 1 minute,10 second barrier with Kanon swimming a 1 minute, 8 seconds and Titus a 1 minute, 6 seconds. Tristan swam new races that he has never swam before and finished strong. Brooke’s amazing race came with a 7 second drop in the 100 Backstroke, swimming a 1 minute, 30 seconds. Lucy’s fastest race of the weekend came with a 8 second drop in the 100 free, swimming a 1 minute, 16 seconds. Ida’s impressive time drop occurred in the 20 free with a 12 second drop to finish with 2 minutes ,26 seconds. Swimmers are back in the pool and have already started training for their next meet on November 11th in Bettendorf.

Over the weekend, the Leafs XC team finished their season at the State Meet in Normal. Despite a very muddy course & some tough competition, almost all 14 runners set a new personal best! The top finisher for the boys was Micah Nicke (33rd place - just 8 spots away from a medal!) & the top finisher for the girls was Charlize Wachtel (84th). The girls team finished 21st and the boys team finished 17th overall. Congratulations to all runners on a great season!   Top 10 athletes should turn in their clean uniforms on Wednesday from 7:40 - 8:00 AM in the small gym.
