Students interested in GMS wrestling are reminded that the season has started.  Practice will be after school in the multi-purpose room from 3:30 to 5:30 every day unless there is a meet.

Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student interested in joining the Scholastic Bowl Team is invited to a meeting on Wednesday, December 13th at 7:40 a.m. in Mrs. Francque’s classroom, Room 812. If you are unable to attend the meeting, but are interested in joining, please contact Mrs. Francque or Mrs. Scheider.

This year’s spelling bee will take place on December 22nd in the Large Group Room beginning at 8:30 a.m. for any 8th grade student interested in competing. 8th grade students who choose to participate in the spelling bee are required to see Mrs. Plant or Mrs. Francque by December 15th to sign up. Only 8th grade students who have ‘pre-registered’ by December 15th may compete in the bee.

Attention NFL Pick Em: It's been an eventful two weeks of football to catch up on. Week 11 had only two upsets so scores were pretty. The highest went to Peyton Wexell with 111 points to win Week 11. This was Peyton's second championship week. Way to go, Peyton! Week 12 had four upsets. Our champion for Week 12 was the team of Colton Crutcher and Will Ehlert. They scored 111 points as well, the same as our Week 11 winner. In the overall lead, who will win a free lunch of their choice, is Mrs. Henderson. There's 5 weeks left of the regular season. Let's see if Mrs. Henderson can hang on or if someone can pass her up! Picks are due by the end of the day today. Good luck!

Attention 7th and 8th grade girls interested in playing GMS Basketball: In PE and health classes this week you signed up expressing your interest to play. We've made a list of your names and have posted this in the girls locker room. If you would like to be added to the list, or removed, please see Mr. Monier in Room #602. The season doesn't begin until we return from Winter Break. Prior to break, we will get you a practice schedule. On the PE locker list, there is also a column indicating whether you have a sports physical on file with the office. You can't play or practice until you do. Please get this turned in to the office as soon as possible if yours is missing.

Attention GMS Students and Staff: This Saturday, December 2nd, our 8th grade A and B teams will be playing throughout the day from 9:00-4:00 in the annual Eric Dietrich Memorial Shootout. This takes place in the GFAC, the building north of the high school. The shootout is named in memory of Eric Dietrich, who was our team manager in 2017. Sadly, we lost Eric in the summer between his 7th and 8th grade year. His family raffles off several prize baskets that both middle school and parents would love to win and all proceeds go to the Make a Wish Foundation in honor of Eric. If you are interested in supporting the cause, supporting our 8th graders, and winning some awesome prize baskets, be sure to stop by this Saturday at the GFAC. Eric was an awesome kid with a true love for life. We miss you, Eric. If you have any questions, you can ask Mr. Monier.

Attention Hoops Fans: Our 8B's were in action here at home last night vs. the Northeast Rockets. It was as back and forth game so we hope you had your popcorn. Unfortunately, the Rockets took flight and flew home with the narrow 26-21 victory. Our A's will be in action at home tonight. Good luck guys!

8th graders have been working on using sensory details in what Mrs. Plant calls the Three Word Challenge. Students have been voting this week to choose the best three words used to describe: Their Family Table.  After a close battle, the two competitors advancing to the final round are...From period 2, Dylan Schneider, with "circular, peaceful, warm" and from period 6, Taeton Chirchir, with "anchored, imaginary, changing."  Tune in tomorrow to find out who will reign as the next Three Word Challenge Champion!

The GMS Builders Club will be hosting a winter clothing and food drive starting December 4th.  The homeroom with the most collected items will win a donut party.
