The GMS yearbook staff is looking for motivated, responsible, creative people to join our mission to preserve this year's memories.  If that person is you, stop by the main office and pick up an application today. Don't wait!  We need you to be part of our team.  Applications are due early next week.

8th grade students have an opportunity to travel to Washington DC in June of 2025.  An informational meeting will be held virtually for parents on September 15th.  Pick up a flyer at the middle school office window or in your History class.

6th Graders!  Are you looking for another way to get involved?  Student Senate elections will take place next week.  Today is your last day to pick up an informational packet from Mrs. Johnson in room 601.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes - FCA will be holding our first meeting of the year on Tuesday Sept. 10th at 7:35 in the small gym. FCA meets every Tuesday morning at 7:35am. All are welcome to attend - come check it out!

Attention 6th graders: If you were interested in trying NFL Pick Em, remember your pick em sheet is due by the end of the day Thursday. It is to be turned in with your First and Last name (and if on a team, all of your team members names as well) to the wall basket hanging outside of Mr. Monier's rooms. There will be weekly prizes and one overall season prize that is a free lunch of your choice somewhere in Geneseo. If any teachers are interested, you are more than welcome to participate as well. It is a good idea to take a picture of your picks so as you look at scores over the weekend you can compare it with your picks. We will grade the sheets next Wednesday morning at 7:40 in Mr. Monier's room. Good luck with those Week 1 picks!

The 8th grade whites volleyball team fought hard against Washington last night, but lost their first two sets with a score of 18-25 and 20-25. Brenna Dykstra and Payton Brodie led the team with aces 3 each.  Come out and support the team at home tonight against Glenview.

Yesterday, Geneseo hosted the Cross Country Invitational at Richmond Hill on a warm 84-degree day. With 21 teams and over 400 runners, it was an exciting event! Our home course was tough with some brutal hills, but our teams tackled them head-on.  A big shout out to our 7th-grade girls team, who finished 4th overall, and our 8th-grade girls, who ran an outstanding race and took 2nd place, with Charlize Watchel finishing in the top 10!  Our 7th-grade boys brought home the win in their division, with Will Ehlert, Kyle Wirth, and Henry Woodward all placing in the top 10! Although our 8th-grade boys didn’t place, they all ran some personal best times for the season.  Great job to all our runners for conquering the hills! We'll be back in action this Friday at the PV Invitational at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf. Go Geneseo!

Congrats to the 7th Grade August student of the month recipients. From House 7-1 Justin Roemer and Bradlee Larson. From House 7-2 Teagan Price and Josh Diehl. Your teachers appreciate the positive attitude, kindness, and respect you have shown in the first few weeks of school. Keep it up!
