Last night the Leafs kicked off their official race season at Empire Park in Moline. It was a beautiful night to run with some cooler temps, and the Leafs took full advantage! Taking home 1st place in their division were the 6th grade girls & 8th grade boys! The 8th grade boys were only 2 points away from a perfect score, with an incredible score of just 17 points! The 6th grade boys took home 2nd place, while both 7th grade boys & girls finished 3rd! Placing for the Maple Leafs were sixth graders Regann Lopez (1st), Breckyn Granell (2nd), Lenna Bolme (6th), EJ Bieneman (9th), Levi Skinner (5th), and Easton Patterson (7th). For 7th grade, Keira Schultz (1st), Audrey Mance (5th), Freddy Wachtel (2nd), and Braeden Bunce (9th) finished in the Top 10. Our 8th graders finished strong with Zania Sefton (4th), Emily Hayes (8th), Will Ehlert (1st), Kyle Wirth (2nd), Henry Woodward (3rd), Drake Burton (4th), and Ephraim Mueller (7th). Way to go Leafs!! The Leafs wrap up their week tonight in Sterling for the Grass Relays - good luck!
The 8th Grade Football Team played their first game last night against Wilson. It was a close game throughout, but they ended up losing 32 to 30. The team played hard and learned a lot from the game. They are eager to get back to work today in preparation for next week’s home game against Edison.
Do you want to learn more about all facets of agriculture? If so, join us this Friday at 7:30 in room 801. All grades are welcome to meet some of your Geneseo FFA officers and make new friends!
It was another big day for GMS softball as they dominated the Shepherd Rams from Ottawa, winning 13–1. Alivia Gaines led the offense with two triples, driving in four runs. Elia Patikjowski added a double, and Emma Gorman and Harper Peters came in as a pinch hitters to deliver base hits. On the mound, Mara Castro and Samantha Minnaert-Yocum split duties. Castro earned the win with six strikeouts, while Minnaert-Yocum added four of her own. In the bottom of the 4th, Sam took a line drive to the foot but stayed tough. She showed true grit—a DOG with a double G—and refused to let anything slow her down. Nine games. Nine wins. GMS is on a mission—and they're submitting their "job application" as the team to beat.
Congratulations to the following 8th grade House 2 August Students of the Month: Rosie Tillberg, Hunter Olson, and Kai Kimmins. These students are prepared, respectful, involved, dependable and enthusiastic and the 8th grade teachers appreciate their efforts. Keep up the great work!
