Congrats to the 7th Grade August student of the month recipients. From House 7-1 Shae Robertson and Emmett Cunningham. From House 7-2 Zach Werthmann and Olivia Boyd. Your teachers appreciate the positive attitude, kindness, and respect you have shown in the first few weeks of school. Keep it up!

3 members of the GMS golf team played in the IESA Golf Sectional at Ingersoll Golf Course in Rockford yesterday, and had to battle rain showers throughout the day.  Trace Hager shot an 87 which was good for 13th place and just short of qualifying for state.  Zak O’Dell shot a 102 and Brandton Spensley shot a 132.  The girls are playing in Peoria today - good luck ladies!

Congratulations to the following 8th grade House 1 S.T.R.I.P.E.S award winners for the month of August: Cameron Doyle, Aislyn Kane, and Rykken Schweitzer.  These students display qualities of service, tenacity, respect, involvement, perseverance, enthusiasm, and spirit.  Your teachers appreciate your efforts to continuously display these qualities. Keep up the GRRREAT work!

The Eagles flew back to their nest last night! The 7th grade greens volleyball team had an uphill battle losing their first game but they came back and won the second and third! We had some FANTASTIC serving done by LEAH MEDINA coming in with 12 Ace serves, not sure what an ace is, that means the other team was able to get one or less hits on the ball and not send it back! followed by Gwen Grimes with 5 aces, Lilah Ruby 4, Hallie Elmer 3, Remi Rahmus 2, Amelia Shannon 2... Medina had 2 attacks, and the digs were deep! We also found our voices and are cheering each other on! Keep it up GREENS

The 7th grade Whites volleyball team took on Colona last night at home and came away with a win in two sets! It was a great display of teamwork and energy from the whole team. Top servers were Harper Peters with 5 aces, Sam Minnaert-Yocum with 6, and Aubrey DeGrave with 9! Come out and support them at their next home game against John Deere next Tuesday starting at 4!

The 8th Grade Football Team played Edison at home last night. The guys jumped out to an early lead and rolled to a decisive victory. It’s a quick turnaround for the team as they head to Davenport on Saturday to play Assumption.

Last night the Leafs held their Home Invite with over 20 teams competing in a wet, muddy course! The Leafs conquered the hills and performed great, despite the messy conditions! Congratulations to our 6th grade girls and 8th grade boys for taking home their respective titles of “Team Champions”! The following athletes also medaled for the Leafs in their respective races: Vincent Thurman (9th), Breckyn Granell (2nd), Reagan Lopez (3rd), Freddy Wachtel (3rd), Will Ehlert (1st), Kyle Wirth (2nd), Henry Woodward (4th), Drake Burton (6th), Ephraim Mueller (9th), & Zania Sefton (10th). Great job to all of our athletes! Tomorrow night, the Leafs will head across the river to battle several Iowa teams at PV!
