GMS Parents and Guardians,
It’s been an amazing start to the school year for all 650+ students and staff. Your children are testing engineering designs of Space Needles, doing gallery walks to learn geographic map types, joining peers in book tastings to select class novels, practicing math skills in vertical learning sessions, and so much more.
Our Softball team went undefeated in the regular season, Golf sent five athletes to IESA Sectionals and one made it to State, Band and Choir had incredible performances at our annual Geneseo Maple Leaf Classic and Harvest Fest, Ag club tested a local farmer’s drone technology, and our Volleyball, Football, and Cross Country teams are entering the final weeks of some very successful regular seasons. Check out some pictures of these events on pages 2 and 3.
Our goals as a school this year are to create and maintain a positive culture and sense of belonging for all students and staff, and to ensure every child receives the most powerful education through a guaranteed and viable curriculum. Whether it’s LEAF Skills recognitions and awards, Math Khan Academy reward tickets, monthly Parent Text Tips, or clear communication of your child’s progress through Google Classroom, Skyward, Parent Square, and Parent Teacher Conferences (coming up Oct. 16 & 17), we are proud to be partners with you in your child’s growth and achievement.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to our teachers, counselors, or myself if you have questions, need some help, or just want to celebrate.
Nathan O’Dell
Principal, Geneseo Middle School
