Congratulations to our 6th and 7th Grade Scholastic Bowl team for their victory against Rockridge last night! Your teamwork and fast thinking led you to a fantastic win! Let’s also celebrate our 8th Grade Scholastic Bowl team for bringing home a big win as well! Your preparation and determination truly showed. The 6th and 7th grade team won 280-110, and 8th grade 260-130. Way to represent our school with knowledge and pride!
Attention 6th Graders: March Madness and the NCAA tournament is getting closer! We think it's about time to have some of our own 'madness' in the 6th grade hallway! Starting next week, we will begin Contig Club on Wednesday mornings at 7:40 in Mrs. Johnson's room. You can come and play 'just for fun.' Or...if you would like some competition and 'madness,' you can sign up to enter the tournament bracket. You can be on a team of 1, 2, 3, or 4 players. You need to write your team name on a loose-leaf sheet of paper and include every player's first and last name. You can only be on one team. This will be due by the end of the day Friday and the madness will begin next Wednesday! If you have any questions please ask Mrs. Henderson or Mr. Monier.
Attention all 7th and 8th grade students! Track and Field season is starting soon! If you are interested in joining the track and field teams, scan the QR code on one of the posters hanging in the hallways and in the locker rooms. You can also go to the “Coming Up” page on the GHS website and scroll down to an electronic version of the track poster to get the QR code to scan. Our informational meeting will be Wednesday, March 11th after school until 4:30 in the large gym. Practices will begin Monday, March 23rd. If you have any questions, you can ask any of the coaches: Mr. Ehlert, Mrs. Gillespie, Mr. Monier, Mrs. Henderson or Mr. Babcock.”
Attention Hoops Fans: It was the home finale for our A teams last night as we hosted the Seton Chargers. 7A had positive contributions made by 14 different girls on their way to a double digit victory. In 8A action, our Lady Leafs went out in style. They finished not only their 8th grade year undefeated at home, but also their entire GMS career undefeated at home. They will look to put the cherry on top of the season with the last game Thursday at Glenview as they seek back-to-back undefeated seasons. Next up, our 7Bs and 8Bs play at home tonight with tipoff at 4:00. That will be the 7Bs home finale. Then on Thursday, it will be 8B only with a tipoff at 4:30 for the season finale. Go Leafs!
The last Chess Club meeting is today. This meeting is for students who received a State Contender letter. We appreciate everyone’s effort and participation.
