Here’s today’s health fact, brought to you by the American Heart Challenge: There are two simple steps to saving a life with Hands-Only CPR that can help save a life: 1. Call 9-1-1 and 2. Push hard and fast in the center of the chest.
Attention 6th Graders: March Madness and the NCAA tournament is getting closer! We think it's about time to have some of our own 'madness' in the 6th grade hallway! Starting next week, we will begin Contig Club on Wednesday mornings at 7:40 in Mrs. Johnson's room. You can come and play 'just for fun.' Or...if you would like some competition and 'madness,' you can sign up to enter the tournament bracket. You can be on a team of 1, 2, 3, or 4 players. You need to write your team name on a loose-leaf sheet of paper and include every player's first and last name. You can only be on one team. This will be due by the end of the day today and the madness will begin next Wednesday! If you have any questions please ask Mrs. Henderson or Mr. Monier.
This is a reminder to all students who qualified for this year's Caudill reading program. You need to check your school email for the link to vote for your favorite book for the state program. You have until Monday morning to get in your vote. See Mrs. Brucher or Mrs. Sager if you have any questions.
Attention all 7th and 8th grade students! Track and Field season is starting soon! If you are interested in joining the track and field teams, scan the QR code on one of the posters hanging in the hallways and in the locker rooms. You can also go to the “Coming Up” page on the GHS website and scroll down to an electronic version of the track poster to get the QR code to scan. Our informational meeting will be Wednesday, March 11th after school until 4:30 in the large gym. Practices will begin Monday, March 23rd. If you have any questions, you can ask any of the coaches: Mr. Ehlert, Mrs. Gillespie, Mr. Monier, Mrs. Henderson or Mr. Babcock.”
Attention Hoops Fans! Wow, what a final night for our Lady Leafs! Here at home our 8B's, who have had some ups and downs throughout the year but haven't wavered one bit, showed their grit and determination in a hard fought 3 point victory in their final game at the machine shed! Way to go girls! On the road our As traveled to Glenview. Our 7A's finished off their year with an impressive 27-8 victory to finish with an 11-3 record and 2nd place conference finish.
Now onto 8As...
Playing in front of a big and noisy crowd, the 8A girls faced a Glenview team determined to hand Geneseo its first loss. After a close first half, the girls maintained their composure and demonstrated their winning DNA with big 2nd half baskets from Alivia Gaines and a huge three pointer from Jaela Minnaert to secure a 34-17 win. In doing so, they capped off an incredible two year run: back to back undefeated conference champions and an overall record of 30-0! Congratulations ladies, super proud of you and all of our Lady Leafs! The future is bright for Lady Leaf basketball.
