Congratulations to our February Student Athletes of the monthHattie Deaner and Maddux Kennedy!  Your coaches and teachers recognize all your hard work and effort on the team and in class! Everyone at GMS is proud of you!

The GMS Chess Club made all the right moves at the State Chess Competition this weekend, putting their opponents in check round after round. Leading the board for GMS were our top four finishers: Matthew Werling, Audrey Mance, Henry Woodward, and Ryne Wentz, who each played with strategy, focus, and endgame precision. After a weekend full of smart openings, bold gambits, and hard-fought endgames, our 6th grade team is now ranked 26th in the state, the 7th grade team has advanced to 18th, and the 8th grade team stands strong at 26th. Every teammate contributed — protecting the king, controlling the center, and supporting one another all the way to the final move. It was truly a team effort from the first move to checkmate. Outstanding work, GMS Chess Club — you made your move, and it counted!

Attention all 7th and 8th grade students!  Track and Field season is starting soon!  If you are interested in joining the track and field teams, scan the QR code on one of the posters hanging in the hallways and in the locker rooms.  You can also go to the “Coming Up” page on the GHS website and scroll down to an electronic version of the track poster to get the QR code to scan.  Our informational meeting will be Wednesday, March 11th after school until 4:30 in the large gym. Practices will begin Monday, March 23rd.  If you have any questions, you can ask any of the coaches: Mr. Ehlert, Mrs. Gillespie, Mr. Monier, Mrs. Henderson or Mr. Babcock.”
