All GMS Yearbook staff members are invited to our end-of-year celebration on Monday, May 18th after school until 4:30pm.  Join us to celebrate this year's book.  Please let an advisor know if you cannot attend.

Hear ye, hear ye! Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Hepner’s Science classes wrapped up their final engineering challenge of the semester with a Medieval Times-inspired Catapult Competition! Students designed and built their own catapults, putting their engineering skills to the test in both distance and accuracy events. Students demonstrated creativity, perseverance, and outstanding problem-solving skills.  Congratulations to our top competitors!

National League Champions

  • Distance Champion: Emerson Babcock with an incredible launch of 146 feet and  4 inches

  • Accuracy Champion: Maura Hamilton with 9 points

American League Champions

  • Distance Champion: Urijah Green with a launch of 55 feet

  • Accuracy Champions: London Doss and Lily Knackstedt with 3 points

Attention all 6th and 7th grade boys and girls!  Do you love to run?  Did you get a good time in the mile in PE last week?  We’re looking for people to join the GMS Cross Country team!   If you are interested in running with the Cross Country team at the beginning of the next school year, please scan one of the QR code posters hanging in the hallway to sign up or click the link in the email sent to you last week.

Do you like playing softball?  Check your email titled, “May 11, 2026 Digest: 1 new message from Geneseo Middle School. Towards the bottom, there is a link to fill out a Google Form to sign up for information about GMS Softball.  If you are having trouble finding the form, come see Mrs. Johnson in room 604.   

All 8th Graders planning on playing a sport next year in High School should attend a mandatory meeting tomorrow at 7:45 in the Main Gym.  This includes Boys Soccer, Boys and Girls Golf, Volleyball, Football, Boys and Girls Cross Country and Girls Tennis.  If you are unable to make the meeting please contact Mr. Pardoe immediately so he can help you with next steps.

Attention GMS, it's time to celebrate three AMAZING staff members who are retiring at the end of this school year: Mr. Dean Johnson, Mr. Bob Thomas, and Mrs. Andrea Hogue.

  • Mr. Johnson is our courageous Assistant Principal

    This is his 26th year at GMS. He has worked here as a 6th grade teacher, an 8th grade teacher, and now as an assistant principal. He has impacted thousands of students during his time here.

  • Mr. Thomas is our wonderful PE Teacher

    This is his 35th year in education. He has taught at many schools including Creston, DeKalb, Rochelle, Cambridge, and several schools in Geneseo. He has made a lasting impact on generations of students.

  • Mrs. Hogue is our phenomenal Life Skills Teacher

    This is her 34th year in education, including 3 years at Orion Middle School and 31 years at Geneseo Middle School. She has supported and cared for countless students in Life Skills.

All three of these staff members have made a huge impact on GMS and our students.

To help us celebrate them, we will be hiding pictures of each retiree around the school over the next couple of weeks.

If you find a picture, bring it to a lunch supervisor during lunch. You will get a piece of candy for turning it in, and the picture will go on our bulletin board.

Most importantly, please take time to thank them when you see them and let them know how much they are appreciated.
