Volleyball vs. Sterling. The Geneseo 8th Grade Greens volleyball team opened its season against Sterling, falling in two sets, 15–25 and 11–25. Despite some first-game jitters, the Greens showed plenty of positives in their season debut.Aubrey DeGrave led from the service line with two aces, while Hannah DeJohn and Hadleigh Mendoza each added an ace. Chuck Spindel and Aubrey Seals contributed several strong attacks. Every player saw time on the court and contributed to the team’s first outing. The Greens will look to improve their communication and be a more confident team on the court. The group put together a promising first showing and has plenty to build on as the season continues.

7th Grade Volleyball.  Yesterday the Green team took on Sterling, it was a great first game of the season, although we didn’t come out with a win there was some great plays and learning to work together as a team! Serves helped the Green team keep up with the Sterling gold! Breckyn Granell had an Ace serve, Eden Ebert and Anna Carlson had some greats sets making front row get some good ball placement!  Morgan Bomleny, Anna Meits, Jocelyn Malzewski and Molly Dye were able to utilize the sets in the front row! And Chloe Schoonover and Rylee Wagle did a great job getting passes up! Checking game one off the list, and looking forward to a great season! Let’s go Green! 

Volleyball vs Erie. 7th-grade girls defeated Erie in 3 out of 4 sets in our game. Ivery Hull had an amazing night, serving over 15 aces. Emerson Babcock and Emmy Timmerman were tied with 5 aces each. What a great season opener!  8th-grade girls put up a good fight but fell short against Erie. Savanna Desplinter had 7 amazing aces, and Harper Peters had 6 great attacks at the net. Natalia Smith put up a great defense.

This team meets before school every other Wednesday to pick and promote the annual community-wide read. Come to our first meeting tomorrow morning at 7:40 a.m. in the GMS Library.
