Speech Team.  Attention, GMS students! Do you like to talk or perform? Come check out the GMS Speech Team!  Our first meeting is Wednesday, September 2nd at 7:40 AM in the Large Group Room.   Speech Team members will: Memorize and perform a script, Practice each week with a coach, Work on their event outside of meetings and Compete in the Speech Contest on Saturday, November 7th. No experience is needed! We’ll help you learn and build confidence.  Come to the first meeting to learn more and decide if Speech Team is for you!  If you have Questions See Mrs. Haars, Mrs. Bush, or Mrs. Munoz.

The 8th grade football team lost to Assumption on Saturday. Assumption controlled the game early, but the guys settled in and played a much better second half. This Wednesday they travel to Rock Island to take on Edison.

On Saturday, GMS softball traveled to Brimfield to play a double header.  Brimfield got a 1-0 lead in the first inning, in the second inning GMS scored three runs to take the lead.  At the end of four innings, Brimfield was winning 4-3.  GMS Scored three more runs in the 5th inning, tacked another four on in the 6th inning and one in the 7th to win 11-4.  Sophia Griffin started on the mound and only gave up 3 hits and zero earned runs.  Samantha Minnaert-Yocum got the win in the circle giving up three hits and 0 earned runs in 5 innings.  Natalia Smith went 2 for 3 with a double, Mara Castro went 2 for 4, and Elia Patikowski had two RBIs.   In the second game, Beau Bomleny hit a double, Sophia Griffin an in the park homer, Bristol Boster had two RBIs in the 12-1 win.  Morgan Bomleny, Harper Peters, and Kinsley Gripp all made an appearance in the circle for GMS.  Up next is the post-season tournament starting next week.
