GIRLS GOLF: Hadley Abbott, Avery Wilshusen and Adi Smith represented GMS at the IESA Sectional Golf Tournament yesterday, held at Madison Golf Course in Peoria. The girls enjoyed a great day for golf and took advantage of the conditions. Adi Smith placed in the top 40, while Hadley Abbott and Avery Wilshusen both placed in the top 10 which earned them BOTH a trip to the IESA state tournament next Thursday in Metamora. Congratulations ladies and good luck to Avery and Hadley next week!

The 8th grade football team beat Glenview 36 to 6. For Geneseo, the game was full of explosive offensive plays and stifling defense. Next Thursday, they are on the road against the Jr. Pioneers.

After getting knocked out of regionals by Dunlap Valley last year, this year GMS softball was on a mission. Everyone played well last night and the dugout was LOUD! Elia Patikowski and Samantha Minnaert-Yocum both went 3 for 4, Natalia Smith went 3 for 5, Mara Castro and Chuck Spindel both hit doubles. Samantha Minnaert-Yocum got another win in the circle pitching a fantastic game only giving up three hits and no walks! And her defense behind her was on fire! Chuck Spindel was a wall behind the plate. Sienna Temperley made many outstanding plays at second base. Tommie Bess had an ESPN worthy catch in right and then got a double play at first base with a rocket throw. The girls took care of business and defeated Dunlap 11-1 to move on to the regional championship game tomorrow against the Dunlap Middle School Panthers at Canton at 11am. Go Leafs!!
