If you are coming to the dance tomorrow night, be sure to look at the clothing guidelines posted in the hallways or that was sent to your parents by Mr. O'Dell. Outfits should meet school dress code and be safe to dance all night.

Friday starts a new month and a new topic for the Friday morning L3- Library Learning Labs. In October we will be learning how to play chess. This is NOT Chess Club--that happens later in the year. This is for people who want to learn chess basics or for experienced players who can help train the newbies. See Mrs. Brucher or Mrs. Sager if you have any questions.

Boys Basketball.  Attention 7th and 8th grade boys: If you were interested in playing GMS basketball, we had you sign up in your PE/Health classes. Please check that list in the boys locker room. If you would like to be added to the list, or removed, please email or see Coach Monier in room #602. The locker room list also shows the status of whether you have a sports physical turned in, which is required to participate in both practices and games. The locker room also has an 'Early Season Schedule' posted showing when practices begin. All boys interested in playing GMS basketball should attend a meeting on Wednesday morning at 7:50 AM in the GMS gym. We will pass out early season schedules, update you on your sports physical status, and answer any questions. If you have any questions prior, please see Coach Monier. Go Leafs!

Football.  The 8th grade football team beat John Deere last night. In the wet conditions, the offense did a great job of taking care of the ball and the defense never let John Deere get going. Their next game is on Saturday against Yorkville at the high school.

Volleyball.

Greens:  The GMS 8th Grade Greens put together a dominant performance against the Dixon Duchesses, winning in two straight sets, 25–9 and 25–12!  Serving was a huge strength for the Greens. Aaliyah Medina led the way with 3 aces, followed by Aubrey DeGrave and Gia Parrish with 2 each.  The Greens also got contributions across the court. Aubrey DeGrave recorded 2 assists, with Parker adding 1. Offensively, Emmy Williamson recorded 2 successful attacks. Defensively, Lilah, Aubrey, and Hadleigh Mendoza each recorded a dig.  It was a great all-around team effort. Come support the Greens at their home game, tonight, against John Deere.

The 7th grade greens defeated the Dukes in 2! When the serves are in, we WIN, and to prove it we had Breckyn Granell with 5 Aces, Jocelyn Malzewski and Anna Carlson with 3 Aces, Ryle Wagle, Morgan Bomleny each with 1 Ace! Behind the night was a quiet night due to so many awesome serves, but Eden had a spectacular Dig!  Show the love tonight at our home game against John Deere 4 PM

Whites:7th-grade Whites played a great game against Sterling at our last home game. We came out on top! Ivery Hull, Mady Brabson, and Paceyn Davis had amazing serves throughout. Braelyn Thinglum, Emerson Babcock, and Graysen Hintgen had great passes throughout the game.

8th grade Whites also played a great game against Sterling. Bristol Boster and Kate Vorac had a couple of great aces! Henley Cirricione , Natalia Smith, and Sophia Vroman had awesome plays at the net. What a great way to play our last home game!

We are so proud of the hard work, teamwork, and energy these girls brought to the game. Way to represent GMS, girls! Keep up the great work!

Cross Country.  Last night the Leafs competed in the mud & rain at the Heartland Conference Invite. The weather didn’t seem to bother our runners - almost half of our team set a new personal best! A huge shoutout to the Varsity Girls for claiming the title of Conference Champs! Leading the way for the Leafs were Regann Lopez (2nd), Eliza Bieneman (5th), and Anyssa Mueller (10th). In the girls open race, Lenna Bolme (2nd), Avery Hagerman (3rd), & Georgia Perez (4th) also placed. The boys team had a strong showing with their best finish of the season as a team, finishing 4th overall. Easton Patterson (6th) was the lone medalist in the Varsity race, with CK Martinez (2nd) and Hendrix Sottos (7th) placing in the Open race. For many of our runners, this was the final meet of the season - great season, Leafs!! Your efforts and determination paid off with some fast times & great improvements - way to go! The Top 7 runners will compete next Saturday at the Sectional meet in Dunlap, with hopes of qualifying for State - good luck!”
