Superintendent Delgado’s open letter to Geneseo

An open letter to the community of Geneseo:

This week, we were thrilled to welcome back our students and staff to begin the 2025-26 school year in Geneseo. As the district’s new superintendent, I am honored to be here and I couldn’t be more excited about the year to come.

I have had so much fun visiting our schools this week, seeing seniors return for their final year at the high school and watching kindergarteners walk into their new building for the first time. I’ve witnessed a full range of emotions – anticipation, exhilaration, and nervousness – but overall, a lot of excitement. It’s about reconnecting with old friends, making new friends, and getting our learning off the ground. All students have something to celebrate.

Along with our staff of principals, teachers and the many other adults who support what takes place in our classrooms, we’re all happy to be back doing what we do best. On behalf of our district, I hope you'll join us for some of the events that take place throughout the school year, whether that’s a ballgame, a concert, or any of the other extracurriculars that pop up. We love to have an audience, and you can keep an eye on GeneseoSchools.org to see what’s coming up.

As you may know, I’m new to Geneseo, and it did not take me long to see this is a wonderful community and a great place to be. If I haven’t had a chance to say hello to you yet, I am a native of Michigan and this will be my 30th year in education. I have spent a good portion of that time in the classroom, teaching every grade from preschool through 5th, and working in middle and high schools as well. With each passing day, I am more excited to be part of education in Geneseo, and I look forward to learning more while growing into the community.

Whether you are a teacher, a parent, or just someone who cares about the schools in their community, please know that my door is always open. I'd love to hear from you, so feel free to connect with me and our district through our website or by sending a note to info@geneseoschools.org.

I am thrilled that the 2025-26 school year is here, and I hope we can cross paths soon as we cheer on our teams, enjoy performances in our concert hall, and continue to support our students, just as this incredible community has always done.

Warm regards,

Dr. Laura Delgado
