GMS students work their tails off practicing math skills through Khan Academy every week. About 200 of them earned enough level ups and minutes for some fun in the sun with their peers Thursday afternoon!

Congratulations to student, Jensen Vroman, who received the Wednesday Difference Maker award for the most nominations from staff as a Difference Maker at GHS. Jensen was awarded QC Storm tickets this morning by the mascot, Radar. Congrats, Jensen!

Amid the excitement of Homecoming dress-up days at GMS, learning was still the most important priority this week. Students in Mrs. Atwell's 8th grade science classes were using principles of physics to design marble roller coasters and students in 7th grade geography with Ms. Bush and Mrs. Jackson were busy making connections between their classrooms and their world.

Congrats to our GHS Students of the Week. These students were nominated by our staff for having a positive impact in the classroom!

Check out Twins Day at GMS, one of our themed dress up days to celebrate Homecoming across the Geneseo School District.

Mrs. Swanson's 3rd grade class earned a pizza party from the Millikin PTA for having the highest numbers of parents and guardians that joined PTA this school year. We are thankful to have a partnership with very active PTA's in all our buildings. All parents and guardians are invited to become active members of the PTA at your child's school.

Sophia Urquiza was honored today with a Maple Leaf Medallion for being an outstanding 8th grade student, athlete, and musician. Her leadership in GMS Drum Line, dedication to GMS Softball and the Percussion section in band, and her achievement in the classroom all demonstrate a high level of Teach Learn Care. Congratulations Sophia!

Congratulations to GHS students Dylan Gehl and Caroline Girten for receiving the "Sons of American Revolution" and "Daughters of American Revolution" Award! These awards recognize and reward high school seniors who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.

“This opportunity absolutely means the world to me," says Kyle Bess, Geneseo's new head varsity baseball coach. "It feels like I've kind of grown up with this place, from being a 24-year-old teacher to someone who is pretty established. Now, it’s a new start to something again and that will be an exciting challenge.” Read more: https://www.geneseoschools.org/article/1794262

Congratulations to Mrs. Raske, the most recent award winner of a Maple Leaf Medallion at Millikin. Mrs. Raske was nominated for volunteering on numerous curriculum committees, her desire to try new and exciting initiatives in the classroom, and for displaying and teaching a growth mindset. Keep up the great work, Mrs. Raske!

Happy players and a proud Coach Monier had a "Good things come to those who wait" moment when they received and added a Heartland Conference Championship plaque to the GMS trophy case. Though they're all in 8th grade now and were in 7th grade last school year when they wrapped up their hoops season, it's always AWESOME to celebrate a championship effort!!!
