5th grade students enjoyed a tremendous learning opportunity at JA BizTown. Students practiced skills such as operating banks, writing checks, and other business and community practices. The JA staff shared many compliments regarding the preparation and respect of our students!

The 14th Annual On the Same Page finale was a huge success this past week. OSP leaders organized escape rooms and spy puzzles just like the book for this year "City Spies." Congrats on a great event GMS OSP!











Nothing better than Fine Arts Day in Geneseo. GMS students and staff visited our Elementary Schools today in order to share their passion for music and the arts with our youngest students.






Senior Emma DeBaene was recognized by GHS Principal Tom Ryerson and presented with a Maple Leaf Medallion at Thursday's Board of Education meeting for her excellence in leadership and ongoing volunteering efforts.
An AP Scholar with Honors, DeBaene serves as Student Council President, and over the last three years, has been a Dance Marathon captain as the event raised over $80,000 for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
As District Governor for the Illinois-Eastern Iowa Key Club International, Emma has worked with UNICEF to help disadvantaged children in the world's toughest places, and overall, logged over 500 hours of community service.

Congratulations to GHS teacher Mike Harrington, who was nominated by two of our "Grow Your Own" teacher students as their Favorite Teacher! Mr. Harrington received the surprise award on Thursday and his story will air on WQAD in early April (we'll share info when we know).



Mrs. Haars, GMS 7th grade Language Arts teacher, was honored with a Maple Leaf Medallion after being nominated by her student. Students can see TEACH - LEARN - CARE each day at GMS in Mrs. Haars classroom. WAY TO GO Mrs. Haars!!!

We had a blast surfing into breakfast last week. The kids enjoyed trying new foods and even tried their hands and hips at doing the hula. We had a record number eating with us. Thank you all for the support, and to SAFE for helping decorate. #NationalSchoolBreakfastWeek




GMS and Mr. Verner took the Polar Plunge this morning in support of our local Special Olympics Team. Ms Wancket and the Builders Club raised over $500 for equipment and resources for Geneseo Schools Special Olympics.



Geneseo Rotary Club GMS March Students of the Month are 7th graders Helo Castro and Mia O'Dell. Congratulations Helo and Mia, thank you demonstrating Service, Humility and Respect every day!





GMS sent off our state qualifying wrestlers with a Champions Walk Thursday afternoon. Both boys and girls will be wrestling at IESA state today and Saturday, go get 'em LEAFS!





Congratulations to Mrs. Bumann & Mrs. Frerichs who were the dynamic duo serving the MOST meals at breakfast this week as guest servers for National School Breakfast Week!!! Mrs. Dickey & Officer Berthoud were the runners-up and Mr. O'Dell & Mr. Johnson tied for third (LAST) place.
