Senior Emma DeBaene was recognized by GHS Principal Tom Ryerson and presented with a Maple Leaf Medallion at Thursday's Board of Education meeting for her excellence in leadership and ongoing volunteering efforts. An AP Scholar with Honors, DeBaene serves as Student Council President, and over the last three years, has been a Dance Marathon captain as the event raised over $80,000 for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. As District Governor for the Illinois-Eastern Iowa Key Club International, Emma has worked with UNICEF to help disadvantaged children in the world's toughest places, and overall, logged over 500 hours of community service. Congratulations, Emma!
