5th grade students did a great job last week practicing mock interviews as part of their "BizTown" experience. Students will take part in a hands-on simulation where they develop an understanding of basic business practices and can practice essential "soft skills."
Our GMS 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams and our GMS Scholastic Bowl teams celebrated successful seasons with their coaches and sponsors during breakfast time. Wow, time is flying!!! Congratulations on your success everyone!!!

Health classes at GMS study substance abuse, highlighting the negative effects of drugs, tobacco and alcohol on the human body. Groups of 2-3 researched and developed posters detailing their findings, take a look. The next unit will be on natural highs like reading and running.
GHS hosted approximately 55 businesses and organizations for a job fair and career expo on Friday. “We were really happy with the turnout and it was great to see how our students engaged with the professionals on hand,” said Travis Mackey, the event organizer. GMS students Colin Roemer, Taeton Chirchir, Elijah Coppejans, Jadynn Pollard, Lily Bellagamba, Addi Swan, Faith Mierop, and Nadia Karn were escorted by Ms. Croft to Omaha, Nebraska to participate in the midwest ACDA Honor Choir. “This was honestly one of the best choir events showing excellence of the students participating in the choirs,” said Ms. Croft.

Founded in 1959, ACDA is a nonprofit music education organization whose central purpose is to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, and teaching. In addition, ACDA strives through arts advocacy to elevate choral music’s position in American society.
To participate in an ACDA honors choir, students had to audition and be selected out of the entire midwest. To be selected is a great honor. For the three days they were away, students got to work with Dr. Brandon Boyd, the director of choral activities and graduate choral conducting program and associate professor of choral music education at the University of Missouri - Columbia. Students improved skills in their ability to read a variety of music, blend, create tall vowels, express diction, and build a community by making new friends from different schools.

4th Grade students loved helping out their Kindergarten counterparts with the American Heart Association Jump Rope challenge. Our Kindergarten friends definitely enjoyed their "big" helpers as well.
First grade students recently celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing up and a variety of activities. Meanwhile, 5th grade celebrated 1000 day! They have been in school since the beginning of Kindergarten for 1000 days!
