Congratulations to Geneseo High School's Nicole Cherry on receiving a Maple Leaf Medallion! Mrs. Cherry was nominated by GHS senior Kylie Maertens, who wrote: "Mrs. Cherry has always brightened up my day any time I have been in the front office. She demonstrates the CARE category especially because she is always willing to answer any of my questions and go out of her way to help me and others." Kylie continued, "She consistently creates connections with students and genuinely cares for their well being. She represents the Geneseo School District through her actions and smiling face when you come through the front doors of the high school. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to know Mrs. Cherry!"

Geneseo Middle School was honored on April 23rd with the IESA Divisional Sportsmanship Award. This is a huge honor, voted on by our surrounding districts, our competitors. It's an award that says GMS is a fun, safe and great place to compete. Thank you to all the student-athletes, parents, coaches, refs and fans, and to our AD Mr. Pardoe for creating this culture of excellence!

Millikin 4th graders helped clean up the garden bed in front of the elementary school in honor of Earth Day. They made light work of this challenging task. Once the weeding was finished, they spread wildflower seeds throughout the garden to help the pollinators and beautify the school grounds.

GMS 6th grade social studies students spent time role-playing what it was like to be in the Senate during Ancient Rome. They learned about and practiced "bribing" other senate members during their simulations in order to feed their poor citizens, made plans to invade Gaul and other new or disputed territories, and debated whether they should or would build new infrastructure like aqueducts or roads.
