Our On the Same Page (OSP) team hosted an amazing Annual Book Read Finale today up at the GMS walking track. Students, Staff, Families and Community members who read this year's book, Final Season, walked a 5K to raise funds for ALS. Thank you to the OSP Student Leaders, Mrs. Brucher, Mrs. Sager, Local Adult Group Book Clubs, and all the staff who volunteered to make this annual event possible.

Congratulations to our 2025-26 IL Principal's Association Student Leadership Award winners, and to GMS Asst Principal Dean Johnson for being named regional Asst Principal of the Year. We're so proud of you all for living the mission of Teach Learn Care every day!

GMS students and staff have all had a busy week with lots of learning and some fun to go along with it. Students in Mr. Reed's adaptive PE classes have been working out including bike rides when the weather cooperates. Mr. Puls and Mr. Verner's 6th grade students have been studying their way through Ancient Rome toward the Middle Ages. And Mr. Hamilton's 7th grade art classes have been creating their own individual vessels out wool through the felting process they've been learning and practicing. GMS wishes everyone a FANTASTIC FRIDAY and a wonderful weekend too!!!

It's Spring Book Fair at GMS right now! Students are hunting for amazing new reads, while Mrs. Brucher and our incredible parent volunteers engage them in their interests. The book fair is open today and Friday, and again Saturday, 10:30am - Noon, during our OSP Finale "5K Walk"

Please take extra care when driving through or near the Ogden and State Street area during this construction period. Slow down, stay alert, and follow all posted signage and directions. Your safety, and the safety of others, depends on it. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe!

Wishing all of our students, families, and staff a joyful and peaceful Easter! May your weekend be filled with happiness, time with loved ones, and the beauty of the season.

Track and Field season at GMS kicked off on a beautiful March evening tonight at our annual Intrasquad meet. Athletes were running, jumping and throwing, getting solid practice in for what will be a great season. Good luck GMS!

Whether it's venturing all the way to Chicago for a little "Hamilton" sing-along with band and choir peers, using some Slinky's for a science lesson on energy waves, or testing out group-designed water slides to learn about engineering and volume in LA Ingenuity, GMS students are taking big time academic risks, and having some fun while they're at it, as they head into spring!

IAR testing at GMS continues into day 3 tomorrow, but not before a couple IAR Rewards helped kids and staff blow off steam and enjoy the great weather. Tuesday was free time and recess, Wednesday was Dough-Not Stress, and tomorrow will be "Dance the Test Away Thursday!" Finish strong GMS!

As we get ready for the IL Assessment of Readiness March 24-26, GMS students and staff had some fun kicking off the week with an all-school assembly. We had a DJ, some solid "student" actors, an appearance from Captain Focus, and much more. Lock-In, and do your best on the IAR!

Just another pre-Spring Break day at GMS! Khan Academy math rewards, PI day, and some fine arts fun at the Elementary Schools. Make it a great break everyone!

Congratulations to 8th graders Hailey Olson and Cameron Doyle on being awarded our 2025-26 DAR Award Winners. These two outstanding young leaders were selected by the GMS staff for their character and service to the school and community.

Geneseo Middle School Swing Choir & Jazz Band students are visiting all elementary schools this week. Ms. Croft and Mrs. Hawkins are leading the elementary "Fine Arts Day" activities to celebrate and introduce students to new opportunities they'll have once they come to GMS.

Another amazing day at GMS as we send our 5 Wrestling IESA State Qualifiers to State in DeKalb this Friday and Saturday, and we celebrate raising over $8,000 for the American Heart Association in our annual Jump Rope for Heart challenge. Keep rockin it GMS!
