Be a hero for a cause! The Braveheart CAC 4th Annual Superhero 5K Run/Walk is taking place on Saturday, April 18 at Baker Park in Kewanee, IL.
This high-energy, family-friendly event invites participants of all ages to don their favorite superhero costumes and hit the pavement to support child abuse awareness, sexual assault prevention, and mental health services.
Beyond the 5K, the day features a Community Resource Fair at 9:00 a.m. and a Complimentary Kids Fun Run at 11:00 a.m., complete with goodie bags for the little heroes.

Northside Elementary School students competed in the Kindness Olympics last week. Students did a great job being kind to one another and making other's days a bit brighter. Congratulations to Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, Mrs. Brown's class, Preschool, and 3rd Grade for medaling in the Olympics. A big thank you to ALL students for participating.




4th Grade Students raised $410 dollars for the animal shelter through their Wax Museum. The students did a great job dressing up and telling about their character. A huge thank you to everyone who came to watch and support our students.

Based on the latest forecast, Geneseo CUSD 228 schools will be open on Monday, January 26. After-school activities — including athletic practices, games, and other extracurriculars — will resume their normal schedules.
Temperatures will remain frigid, so please bundle up, especially in the morning. Extra layers are encouraged, and be sure to keep your hands, head, ears, and feet warm.

Families with children ages 3, 4, and 5 are invited to schedule a screening on March 2, 3, or 4 at First Congregational Church in Geneseo. Ladders to Learning is a half-day preschool program designed to support young learners who are not yet eligible for kindergarten.
Appointment scheduling begins Monday, February 9. To schedule a time on or after that date, please contact Angela Krause, Preschool Parent Coordinator, at 309-945-0614.

Due to the incoming extreme cold and forecasted wind chills, there will be no school for Geneseo CUSD 228 on Friday, January 23. All classes, S.A.F.E. Child Care, athletic events, and extracurricular activities are canceled.

The District is closely monitoring the incoming winter weather and expected extreme cold, and as always, our top priority is the safety of our students and staff.

4th grade at students have been enjoying collaborating to "Cross the River" in PE. Each team came up with their own plan on how to make it across without touching the floor.

5th grade students participated in a town hall meeting simulation to decide whether or not their New England colony was going to get a new meeting house. Students had a great discussion and debate as they sharpened their critical thinking skills.




Lifeskills students had a wonderful field trip to Autistic and Loved. What an outstanding place for any student to visit. Our students had a blast and can't wait to go back again. What a great day of excitement and joy. Thank you Autistic and Loved for your hospitality.
