The Geneseo school district is joining the Illinois Principals Association in celebrating Principal Appreciation Week from October 18-24, and Principal Appreciation Day on Friday, October 23.
Geneseo’s principals include Joe Mowen (Northside Elementary), Philip Moe (Millikin Elementary), Brian Hofer (Southwest Elementary), Tom Ryerson (Geneseo High School), and Nathan O’Dell (Geneseo Middle School), while Sara Bertelsen (GHS), Jeremy Mosier (GHS), and Melanie Henderson (GMS) serve as assistant principals.

Northside's kindergarten mathematicians are stretching their thinking with a Building Thinking Classrooms task called Next Door Numbers! Students are building number sense, making connections, and learning to think flexibly as they work together to solve problems. We love seeing our youngest learners tackle big thinking!

Congratulations to the Northside Students of the Month for September. These students have been amazing leaders and have worked so hard. Our Student of the Month breakfast will be held on Friday, November 13 at 7:30 in our Co-Lab. We can't wait to celebrate these wonderful students.
The 1st Grade field trip to Tanners was an amazing time. A drizzly day couldn't stop these students from exploring, learning, and of course tasting some apple treats. What a great day filled with fun. Thank you for everyone who joined us for the trip.

This year, students began Community Based Instruction, providing opportunities to practice important skills in real-world settings. Recently, the class took their first trip to Fareway to learn about the grocery store and shop for items needed in the classroom.
Students also join Mrs. Furlong’s middle school Life Skills class once a month for cooking activities and lessons focused on friendship.

Join the Geneseo Police Department for its Mindful Strides 5K, 2-mile run/walk, and Kids' Stride on Saturday, September 5 at Richmond Hill Park in Geneseo! The 5K and 2-mile events begin at 9:00 a.m., with the Kids' Stride starting at 8:30 a.m. Come walk, run, or cheer on the kids while supporting the police department’s Impact Program and its efforts to build a dementia-friendly community. We are happy to introduce Abbie Pedigo, the new music teacher at Northside Elementary. Ms. Pedigo attended Western Illinois University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in music education. She taught one year of first grade in Naperville before teaching music at Serena Hills Elementary in Flossmoor for the last three years.
