GMS band director, Mrs. Hawkins, and 7th grade science teacher, Mrs. VanOpdorp, were BOTH honored by their students with Maple Leaf Medallions. Our students are so grateful for their dedication to TEACH - LEARN - CARE each day at GMS! Way to go Mrs. Hawkins and Mrs. VanOpdorp!!!





It's almost Go Time! 8th graders visited GHS today to meet and learn from Mr. Ryerson, Mrs. Emmerson, and Mr. Mosier, as well as some awesome Link Crew student leaders. They got a tour of the school, asked great questions, and got their first really cool taste of high school.






Our annual Graduation Parade! Graduating seniors are escorted around town and drive by their old elementary schools and middle school!

Middle School Track and Field athletes started with a Walk of Champions at GMS on Thursday, and are now medaling all over the place at IESA State in Peoria. Megan, Madison and Ali all medaled in pole vault, Addi, Jayden and Jackson medaled in shot put, Micah medaled in 400, and Alivia, Olivia, Isaac and more are running, throwing and jumping their best! The magic continues tomorrow.











Some unique lessons this week at GMS including "screaming gummy bears" during a demonstration in 8th grade science classes. 6th grade students took part in a simulation activity while studying the "Black Death" of bubonic plague during the Middle Ages in Europe.






Congratulations to AJ Weller on being named a co-winner of the prestigious Don Morris Memorial Award! The award was created in memory of Morris to honor student-athletes in the Western Big 6 Conference that excel in multiple sports, school and community activities. It's a well deserved honor for a young man who represents our community and school so well.

Thank you to James Zahara, meteorologist at WQAD, for bringing "The Beast" to Millikin. Third grade students loved expanding their knowledge on climate and weather and touring "The Beast."






Det. Steines and social worker Mrs. Norberg were nominated for a Maple Leaf Medallion by a fellow colleague for their quick response and care for a GHS student! They are always there to help in any way they can!


Congratulations to 8th graders Fritz Bolme, Colin Roemer, and Taeton Chirchir on winning the Geneseo Rotary Club's U.S. Constitution Essay Contest. Fritz was 1st place and won $300, Colin was 2nd and won $200, and Taeton was 3rd and won $100. They each worked with their 8th grade US History Teachers, Mr. Mitchell and Mr. McAvoy, to write about what the Constitution means to them and their families.





Update: Phenomenal performances by all grades 6-12 bands this evening at the 65th annual All Unit Band Concert. We are blessed to live in a community with music so sweet!

1st Grade students are thoroughly enjoying King and Queens Day at Northside. We definitely have some wonderful future leaders in this group.



There's new signage at Geneseo High School, thanks in part to a donation from the Class of 2021! Zendavor Signs installed the brushed aluminum dimensional lettering, which can be seen on the building's south side and the west side of the Performing Arts Center.





Beginning in June, the state of Illinois will provide grocery benefits to help families with eligible school-age children buy groceries during the summer. Update: BIG WIN for the Leafs today. Sectional Champs for all 4 Divisions, 7th and 8th grade Boys, 7th and 8th grade Girls. On to IESA State next weekend!!!
