The Machine Shed was pumped up on Friday night as the Green Machine defeated the Rochelle Hubs 26-21 in a nail biter. What an awesome home opener it was!

At GMS our amazing teachers are building culture, history, and towers? Students lined themselves up in Science class by height without talking, made fun observations about our GMS past in US History, and engineered paper towers in Ingenuity class that could hold a stuffy!

Join the Geneseo Police Department for its Mindful Strides 5K, 2-mile run/walk, and Kids' Stride on Saturday, September 5 at Richmond Hill Park in Geneseo! The 5K and 2-mile events begin at 9:00 a.m., with the Kids' Stride starting at 8:30 a.m. Come walk, run, or cheer on the kids while supporting the police department’s Impact Program and its efforts to build a dementia-friendly community. We are happy to introduce Abbie Pedigo, the new music teacher at Northside Elementary. Ms. Pedigo attended Western Illinois University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in music education. She taught one year of first grade in Naperville before teaching music at Serena Hills Elementary in Flossmoor for the last three years.

We are excited to welcome Stacey Anderson, our new cross categorical teacher at Geneseo High School. Mrs. Anderson graduated from St. Ambrose University and later earned a master’s degree in special education from Western Governors University. She spent 16 years working in mental and behavioral healthcare before teaching for two years in split building roles as a resource teacher in Moline.
“I am looking forward to being at the high school and helping kids know and reach their potential,” said Mrs. Anderson. “I am the type of teacher that understands that kids need to be met where they are and sometimes that looks different for each learner in the room. I hope to build some roots in this community and help students feel confidence in the classroom that may not have always been easy for them. When kids leave high school I hope they feel like they got out of school what they wanted and I hope to be a part of that success.”

We are thrilled to introduce Chelsea DeMay, Millikin Elementary’s new 3-5th grade skills-based special education teacher. Mrs. DeMay earned a pair of bachelor’s degrees–one from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in agricultural communications, and another from Western Governors University in special education–and a master’s in special education from the American College of Education. She previously worked as a special education teacher at EXCEL school in Atkinson for seven and a half years.
“I am excited to be teaching at Millikin and to become part of such a supportive school community!” said Mrs. DeMay. “I love helping students build confidence and celebrate their progress both academically and socially. My classroom is centered on creating a structured, positive, and engaging environment where every student feels safe, valued, and capable of success. My goal is to build strong rapport with students and families while helping each child reach their fullest potential.”
