Whoop whoop, GMS Girls Softball took down Effingham in a Quarterfinal duel that puts them in the IESA State Semifinals on Saturday, Sept 19th. Good luck Lady Leafs, we're with you and cheering on your run to a state championship!
GMS Girls are rollin this week, with IESA State for golf and softball the next few days. Softball took home a Sectional Championship Tuesday, they now play Fri & Sat at state in Normal. Avery W and Hadley A are heading to Metamora tomorrow to hunt for a place in golf's top 10.
From Medieval Times to some Volleyball good times, GMS is on a role this week. 6th grade kicked off their annual Medieval Times fundraiser this morning with a visit from King Puls, and Volleyball Whites won both 7th and 8th grade in 3 games each against a tough Riverdale team.
We can now say it... GMS Girls Softball are IESA REGIONAL CHAMPS! The Lady Leafs traveled to Canton, IL to take on Dunlap in a pitching and small ball battle, winning 5-3 in the top of the 7th. Congratulations Ladies! Next stop, Sectional Championship in East Peoria on Tuesday.

At GMS our amazing teachers are building culture, history, and towers? Students lined themselves up in Science class by height without talking, made fun observations about our GMS past in US History, and engineered paper towers in Ingenuity class that could hold a stuffy!
Join the Geneseo Police Department for its Mindful Strides 5K, 2-mile run/walk, and Kids' Stride on Saturday, September 5 at Richmond Hill Park in Geneseo! Please join us in welcoming Lori Foley, Geneseo Middle School’s new 7th grade Life Sciences teacher. Mrs. Foley graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in elementary education, and endorsements in science, English language arts and social sciences. She previously worked at Cambridge Elementary School, spending eight years teaching 1st grade and two years in 4th grade.
“After spending 18 years in the medical field, I am really looking forward to bringing my love for science, and my real-world experience in the health sciences, into the classroom,” said Mrs. Foley. “My teaching philosophy is centered on building meaningful relationships with students. I believe every student deserves to feel a sense of belonging—to be seen, heard, and valued for their own unique personalities, ideas and perspectives. I hope to inspire their curiosity, encourage confidence, and help them find the fun in discovering the many connections between science and the world around them.”
She added, “As the parent of two young adults, I understand the value of a strong partnership between school and home. I believe students thrive when the school community and families work together to support their learning, growth, and success in all things. I look forward to getting to know and working with my fellow teachers, my students and their families. I can't wait to begin this new chapter! It's going to be a great school year!”
