GMS students and staff have been learning, understanding, and growing recently. Students in Mrs. Strohm's 8th grade Family and Consumer Science classes visited preschool students at Northside to cap off their child development unit. 6th grade students in Mrs. George's ELA Ingenuity classes tested their boat designs. And 7th grade students in ELA classes with Mrs. Haars discussed the risks of teens "following their dreams" during their Socratic seminars.
GMS celebrates and appreciates our Veterans. This week students created Veteran Stars to honor family and friends who served in our Armed Forces, met with Veterans for Q&A, analyzed political cartoons, wrote thank you cards, and more. We thank you Veterans, for your service!

The GMS 7th and 8th grade bands and jazz band put on a 'scary good' Halloween Concert tonight. Musicians put on their best costumes, and performed pieces like Dr. ROCKenstein and The Skeleton Crawl to a crowded Concert Hall.
GMS wrapped up an amazing week with a dress like the Principals day, Khan Academy Math rewards activities, and our phenomenal 2025 Fall Dance in the Machine Shed.

Big Congratulations to our GMS Boys Cross Country Team for an incredible run at IESA State today. Henry Woodward medaled and placed 20th overall, with the entire team running their hearts out and bringing home a 3rd place trophy. #BeLEAF
Our week at GMS included the book fair (THANKS to all the volunteers!), the 8th grade green/white volleyball game at GHS, a cross country and golf "Walk of Champions" for fall state participants, and BIG BRAIN learning by all of our students! Have a FANTASTIC WEEKEND GMS family and friends!!!
Check out the Walk of Champions we had today at GMS to celebrate the run to IESA State for both girls golf last month, and our boys cross country team coming up this week. Boys XC head to IESA state in Normal, IL this Saturday. They run for a state title at 1pm, go get em Boys!

Our Geneseo Middle School Boys Cross Country team just won the extremely tough Sectional Championship in Dunlap this morning, with the Girls placing way ahead of their seed in 5th place! The Boys XC will head to state in Normal IL next weekend, looking to bring back hardware!
Homecoming week at GMS had lots of fun "twin day" and student/staff swap participation, 6th grade ELA classes were digging into their Westing Game novel unit, and some staff took on the challenge from the 7th grade volleyball team too. Can't wait for a FANTASTIC FRIDAY to kick off the weekend! GO LEAFS!!!
