Gingerbread on Parade collections will take place during lunches at GMS Dec. 16-20. Each homeroom has created a gingerbread, and students will vote for their favorites with monetary donations. This year's proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross to help with disaster relief efforts.

Our GMS alumni who are in FFA at GHS worked magic through the summer and fall as their corn crop made GMS invisible from Ogden Avenue for almost five months. Now that harvest seems like a distant memory and it's a frozen plot, we'll look forward to them planting again next May. Stay warm everyone!!!

Today at GMS, 8th graders got their first taste of high school at our annual "Electives Fair." They met in our small gym with GHS Teachers and Student Leaders to learn and ask questions about the incredible elective course opportunities coming in 9th grade next year. The course selection and orientation process will begin in January, with more info coming to 8th grade families soon.

GMS honored and celebrated Veterans Day by listening to a special message read by Mr. Puls, a GMS 6th grade social studies teacher who is also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Students and staff also recognized family members and friends who are or were Veterans by honoring them with stars including information such as their name, branch, rank, and any conflict during their service. Thank you to all who served and thanks to our GMS social studies teachers for helping our students understand why we honor our military veterans for their service.

Our 6th grade Class of 2031 is going to Medieval Times! Students raised enough funds selling pies and cookie dough to reserve a trip to Schaumburg, Illinois this spring for some jousting, feasting and fun. Congrats 6th grade.

It's Election Day 2024 at GMS! All students in grades 6, 7, and 8 are casting their mock ballot for president at the GMS polling station today. Students learned about the candidates through discussion and conducting their own research, and then cast their vote for president. Crazy at is sounds, any 8th grader already 14 years old will be eligible to vote in 2028, wow! Special thank you to our Social Studies Teachers and Mrs. DePauw for giving students an exciting sneak preview into our election process.

We had quite the "hyped" day at GMS with 6th grade students combining Ancient Egyptian Sessions Day and the Red Ribbon Week character dress up day. Tons of energy and enthusiasm combined with lots of learning and fun through the day. Hopefully students still have the strength and motivation to go door to door for candy!
